He will resolve Slot’s issues: Edwards and Hughes are advocating for Liverpool to appoint a manager who is ‘superior’ to Arteta.

Slot Upgrade: Liverpool Aiming to Recruit ‘World-Class’ Premier League Manager

Liverpool is contemplating Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner as a possible successor to Arne Slot following their unsatisfactory start to the season.

The current Premier League champions have secured only two victories in their last 10 league matches and were held to a draw at Leeds United on Saturday when Ao Tanaka’s late goal equalized at 3-3.

This draw indicates that Liverpool has garnered just eight points from the last 30 available, missing the opportunity to close the gap on leaders Arsenal, who also dropped points against Aston Villa.

The draw was further complicated by Mohamed Salah’s post-match outburst, where the forward accused the club of ‘throwing him under the bus’ after being benched for a third consecutive league match.

Liverpool Considering a Move for Oliver Glasner

As per reports, Liverpool is closely observing Glasner’s situation at Selhurst Park, with the Austrian’s contract set to expire at the season’s end.

Glasner is highly regarded by the Anfield hierarchy, with Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards identifying the 51-year-old as a strong contender to replace the under-fire Slot.

Slot is under increasing pressure despite having led Liverpool to their second Premier League title just six months ago.

The Reds have only managed to win seven out of their 15 league matches this season and currently find themselves 10 points behind Arsenal.

Should results not improve swiftly, Liverpool may opt to make an early decision regarding Slot’s future, with Glasner viewed as the top candidate for the role.

Reports suggest that the club would need to pay over £10m to terminate Slot’s contract this season, with the Dutchman earning approximately £6.6m annually, excluding bonuses.

Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer of 2024, is contracted until the conclusion of the 2026/27 season.

Glasner is considered an improvement over Arne Slot.

Glasner assumed leadership of Palace in February 2024 and has achieved significant success, clinching both the FA Cup and Community Shield this year.

Under the guidance of the ‘world-class’ Austrian, Palace have maintained their impressive performance this season, currently positioned sixth in the Premier League ahead of their match against Fulham on Sunday.

Glasner’s accomplishments are even more commendable given that he continues to secure positive outcomes despite the loss of two key players, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze, in consecutive summers.

The 51-year-old, who has even been lauded as ‘better than Mikel Arteta’, would be a notable improvement over Slot, who has faced challenges after being allowed to invest approximately £450m in new players this summer.
