Harry Kane Comments on Premier League Return Amid Liverpool Interest as Salah’s Future Remains Uncertain
Harry Kane has recently addressed the release clause in his Bayern Munich contract, amidst surprising transfer rumors linking him to Liverpool.
The England striker has responded to speculation regarding a potential move back to the Premier League, particularly with Liverpool emerging as unexpected frontrunners for his signature.
Kane, who departed Tottenham in August 2023 after netting 280 goals in 435 matches without securing any trophies, joined Bayern Munich for a deal valued at €100 million, plus an additional €10 million in bonuses.
Since his transfer, he has made a significant impact, scoring 76 goals in 82 appearances, helping Bayern lead the Bundesliga and advance to the Champions League quarter-finals.
However, recent rumors suggest that Kane may contemplate a return to the Premier League within the next six to twelve months.
Reports indicate that his release clause was set at £67 million during the last transfer window, which is expected to decrease to £54 million next winter.
According to sources in Spain, Kane has expressed a desire to return to the Premier League, with aspirations to conclude his career in England. Liverpool is currently viewed as the leading candidate to secure his services.
The report further states that insiders close to Kane believe he is seriously weighing the option of returning to England at the end of the current season, with a clear intention to finish his career there.
There is already a leading contender for his signature: Arne Slot’s Liverpool, who are currently experiencing a strong phase in the domestic league.
Liverpool’s management is actively pursuing high-caliber reinforcements to make a significant impact in Europe, and Harry Kane aligns perfectly with that strategy.
The player’s personal ambition to return to England may complicate negotiations for the German club. Kane’s contract extends until 2027, which gives Bayern a strong negotiating position, but the player’s desire could be a crucial factor if Liverpool makes a serious offer this summer.
Harry Kane aims to conclude his career in England, and the present Liverpool squad presents an ideal environment: a forward-thinking project, a seasoned manager, and genuine aspirations. This transfer could shift the dynamics of the Premier League in the upcoming season.
Former Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Basler expresses hope that Kane will finish his career at the Allianz Arena, noting that the England international is “more of a team player” compared to Robert Lewandowski.
Basler remarked to Spaceport Sweden: “Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski share some similarities. They are both rarely sidelined by injuries and consistently find the net, but I believe Kane is a more collaborative player—Lewandowski can be quite self-centered at times.
“When I watch Kane, I see him tracking back into midfield and effectively distributing the ball. I think he brings more value to Bayern than Lewandowski did. He contributes defensively and is more engaged in the team’s build-up play.
“I hope he remains with Bayern, and I believe he understands the value of what he has at the club. Given his age, I’m not sure he would want to undergo another transition at this point.
“I think he feels very settled at Bayern, and I hope he stays there until the end of his career.”
