Gabriel Magalhaes’ injury has been clarified as Mikel Arteta offers an update following Arsenal’s victory.

Arsenal secured a 2-0 win against Olympiacos in the Champions League, but Gabriel Magalhaes had to leave the match due to injury.

Mikel Arteta provided an update on Gabriel Magalhaes after the Arsenal defender experienced an injury concern during the Champions League win over Olympiacos.

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka contributed to a solid 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

This result indicates that the Gunners have now achieved maximum points from both of their European matches this season.

However, Arteta encountered a possible setback in the second half when Gabriel had to exit after David Raya fell heavily on the 27-year-old center-back. Cristhian Mosquera came on to take his place.

After the match, Arteta explained that Gabriel’s exit was purely precautionary. The Spanish manager told the media: “Yes, I believe he will be fine.

He felt something, I think it was a kick, but I’m not certain, in the first half, and he was a bit uncomfortable, and by the second half, he was still there.

“He could have continued, but we chose not to risk it, especially since he has played many games and is returning from a long-term injury, and we need to take care of him.”

Arteta will be hoping for a quick recovery for Gabriel ahead of Saturday’s match against West Ham. If he is unable to play, William Saliba will likely partner with Mosquera in defense.

Reflecting on the win against Olympiacos, Arteta stated: “Well, I am very pleased; winning in the Champions League is always challenging, and maintaining another clean sheet, we have achieved around 11 in 14 games, which is impressive from the team.

“I believe we started the match very well, looking like a genuine threat, very dynamic, consistently pushing forward, creating numerous opportunities and threats.

In general, we had another two or three significant opportunities, but we failed to convert them in this competition.

It’s crucial to remain vigilant; David had to make an outstanding save to prevent a goal during their first attempt, which is essential in this competition as well.

Furthermore, as you mentioned, we experienced periods of considerable dominance, but there were also instances where we lost control.

In direct play, we found ourselves a bit deeper, and each time they delivered crosses into the box, it became evident that they are a very, very dangerous team.
