Fabrizio Romano has once again confirmed that Arsenal have a strong desire to secure the signing of a £85m player this summer. The player in question is Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

The latest update on this potential transfer comes from reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano. It has been reported that Arsenal are seriously considering making a move for Gyokeres, who is a Swedish international.

This information aligns with previous reports from the Mirror, which stated that Arsenal have a keen interest in acquiring the services of Gyokeres.

Arsenal is reportedly exploring the possibility of acquiring Viktor Gyokeres. According to the Mirror, the Gunners have shown interest in signing the Swedish international.

Now, respected journalist Romano has reiterated that Mikel Arteta is evaluating a potential move for Gyokeres, despite previous rumors linking the Sporting CP striker to Chelsea.

Romano shared on X (formerly Twitter): “I mentioned a month ago that Chelsea is not interested in this transfer, but Arsenal is 😄”.

It comes as no shock that Arteta and Edu are mulling over a move for Gyokeres.

The Swede, who Arsenal are actively monitoring, has had an exceptional season in Portugal since his move to Sporting CP from Coventry for £20m in July 2023.

Gyokeres has netted 31 goals in just 34 appearances, along with providing 11 assists, surpassing Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in terms of goal contributions.

Arsenal have a direct, albeit costly, path to secure Viktor Gyokeres. The Gunners will not have to engage in negotiations with Sporting CP over a transfer fee this summer, as Gyokeres has a release clause of €100m (£85m) stipulated in his contract.

Sporting CP’s official website has also verified this information.

Arteta will need to engage in discussions with Gyokeres personally and persuade him to sign, but this should not pose a problem considering Arsenal’s status as one of the top clubs globally.

Should Arsenal successfully secure this transfer, it would be an incredibly thrilling development considering the impressive number of goals and assists the 25-year-old has contributed this season.

Stay tuned for updates on this matter, as Gyokeres is expected to attract attention during the upcoming summer transfer window.
