The player, who is valued at £60m and is reportedly being pursued by Manchester United, has openly expressed his desire to join Arsenal, stating that it is a dream for him.
The player, who is currently being linked with a £60m move to Manchester United, has made a stunning revelation by publicly stating his intention to join Arsenal. He expressed his excitement, describing it as a dream scenario for him.
Donyell Malen, a player valued at £60m, who has been on Manchester United’s radar, has now made it public that he desires to join Arsenal.
Throughout the season, the Red Devils have faced difficulties in scoring goals, and it is anticipated that they will bolster their attacking options during the summer transfer window. Among the numerous names associated with Manchester United, one of them is the former Arsenal player, Malen, who currently represents Borussia Dortmund.
Donyell Malen, who previously spent two years at Arsenal from 2015 to 2017, has expressed his desire to reunite with the Gunners. Known for his exceptional talent, the Dutch player was eager for more playing time towards the end of his time in Arsenal’s academy. Despite his potential, Arsene Wenger was hesitant to provide him with first-team chances, prompting Malen to seek opportunities elsewhere.
Malen made the switch to PSV Eindhoven in 2017 and has shown significant growth since then. He made the move to Borussia Dortmund a few seasons back, and despite facing challenges initially, he has been delivering outstanding performances.
Recently, Football Transfers reported that Manchester United were engaged in ‘intense’ talks regarding the potential signing of Malen. The fact that both the Dutchman and Erik ten Hag are represented by the same agent only added fuel to the speculation.
In a recent statement, Malen expressed his thoughts on his future, stating that if he had to choose one club to join, it would be Arsenal as they hold a special place as his ‘favourite team’.
He mentioned to Voetbal Zone, as reported by Sportwitness: “Having played in England during my youth, it has always been a dream of mine to compete in the Premier League. It’s a beautiful dream.
“I had the opportunity to train with Arsenal, which is my favorite club. Yes, I would love to return there. I had a strong desire to succeed there when I was younger. In a footballer’s career, there are moments where tough decisions need to be made.
“At the age of 17 or 18, I was training with the first team and making progress. However, I realized that I needed to focus on playing professional football.”
Donyell Malen has been in impressive form for Borussia Dortmund this season, with 12 goals and four assists to his name.
Despite his talent, it is unlikely that he would secure a spot in Arsenal’s starting XI due to the competition from players like Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, and Kai Havertz.
However, with Manchester United struggling for goals from their forwards, Malen could be a valuable addition to their squad.
The Dutch forward has been impressive this season, contributing 12 goals and four assists across all competitions. Despite primarily playing on the wings, he has managed to deliver a strong performance.
However, it is unlikely that he would secure a spot in Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup, considering the competition from players like Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, and even Kai Havertz, who are all arguably better options.
Nevertheless, Malen could be a valuable addition to Manchester United, especially considering their forwards’ lackluster performances this season, with the exception of Rasmus Hojlund.
