Fabrizio Romano provides a significant update regarding Sunderland’s transfer target, valued at €25M.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has released some major transfer news, which is disappointing for Sunderland supporters.

Romano confirmed that Sporting CP has finalized the acquisition of Almeria striker Luis Suarez, who was on Sunderland’s radar.

The journalist noted that the Portuguese club will pay €25 million for the 27-year-old Colombian forward, while Almeria retains a 10% sell-on clause.

As a result, Sunderland loses out on yet another target in the market aimed at bolstering their attack, necessitating a search for alternative options.

This transaction is part of a ‘domino effect’ triggered by the nearly confirmed transfer of Viktor Gyokeres (27) to Arsenal, according to Romano.

Fabrizio Romano provides a significant update regarding Sunderland’s transfer target, valued at €25M.

“Sporting CP have reached an agreement to sign Luis Javier Suarez from Almeria, here we go!” Romano stated.

“The deal has been confirmed as exclusively reported in June. The fee is €25 million plus a 10% sell-on clause,” the journalist added via his Twitter (X) account.

This is not the only challenge facing Regis Le Bris’ team during this transfer window, as another attacking target, Gonzalo Garcia (21), seems poised to extend his contract with Real Madrid, according to reports from AS.

“Now Gonzalo poses a threat to Endrick’s position and is negotiating a professional contract with Madrid,” they explained in the cited outlet, following the injury of the mentioned 18-year-old Brazilian forward.

Furthermore, the unsuccessful attempt to sign Sassuolo’s Armand Lauriente (26) adds to the list of ‘failures’ by the Lads board this summer, particularly in their goal to enhance the attack.

Consequently, we cannot dismiss the possibility that in the upcoming days, fresh rumors may surface connecting additional offensive players to Sunderland, as it is evident that Le Bris aims to enhance that position with new talent.

Previously mentioned forwards associated with the Black Cats include Matthis Abline (22) from Nantes and Evann Guessand (24) from OGC Nice, although there have been no recent developments.
