FA launch an investigation after Arsenal coaches clashed with Joelinton after Newcastle win…
The FA has launched an investigation following an incident where Arsenal coaches had a confrontation with Joelinton after Newcastle’s defeat.
The Football Association, along with the Football Supporters’ Association, is looking into the clash involving Arsenal’s assistant coach Miguel Molina and Joelinton that occurred after Sunday’s match against Newcastle United, during which Mikel Arteta intervened to diffuse the situation.
Arsenal secured a late victory at St. James’ Park on Sunday, with Gabriel Magalhaes scoring a header from a corner in the 96th minute to clinch all three points.
Emotions ran high throughout the match, fueled by contentious refereeing decisions and several individual altercations and challenges.
As is typical, Newcastle’s Joelinton was engaged in the physical aspects of the game, initially avoiding a yellow card for a foul on Bukayo Saka, later receiving a booking for delaying the game’s restart, and narrowly escaping a second yellow card despite showing clear dissent with sarcastic applause following that booking.
When the Newcastle midfielder exited the pitch in the 94th minute, he likely believed his team had secured at least a point. However, just moments later, the final whistle confirmed an Arsenal win.
Post-match footage from the stands captured Arsenal’s assistant manager Miguel Molina in a heated exchange with Joelinton, who was seen pushing the coach away and pointing a finger at Molina.
Joelinton confronted Arsenal’s assistant, Miguel Molina, and Mikel Arteta at the conclusion of the match.
Mikel Arteta pulled Molina away before attempting to shake Joelinton’s hand, but the Newcastle player continued to point at Molina while making remarks towards the Arsenal manager.
The specifics of the disagreement remain unclear, but it is reasonable to speculate that Joelinton was upset over his team’s loss, while Molina was likely frustrated by Joelinton’s ability to avoid multiple bookings despite his typically aggressive behavior on the field.
