Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Kai Havertz provide the latest updates on Arsenal injuries following a significant announcement.

Here’s the most recent news regarding Arsenal injuries as Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and William Saliba work on recovering from their respective issues.

Mikel Arteta has already faced five distinct injury setbacks for Arsenal after only three matches in the new Premier League season. During victories against Manchester United and Leeds United, Arteta witnessed two of his players sustain injuries, with William Saliba being the most recent victim.

The centre-back played only a few minutes against Liverpool at Anfield, and the quick substitution suggested that it was a concern already known to Arteta. The Gunners manager was already missing Bukayo Saka for the title match after he sustained a hamstring injury just eight days prior.

Martin Odegaard was also substituted during the 5-0 win over Leeds, but he managed to recover from his issue and return. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Kai Havertz, who required minor surgery at the age of 26.

Minor injuries have also kept Ben White and Christian Norgaard unavailable, but there is hope that both will return after the current international break. With all this in mind, football.london has compiled the latest updates on Arsenal injuries;

Bukayo Saka

Saka was absent during the 1-0 loss to Liverpool in Premier League action last Sunday after leaving the field with a hamstring issue against Leeds the previous weekend. Unsurprisingly, he has not been selected for the England squad for World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.

A return later this month has not been ruled out, but it appears more likely that he will be back in October.

What Arteta has stated: “Bukayo is improving, but he will be sidelined for a few weeks.

“No surgery. It’s not as severe as the last one, which is unfortunate. It was a situation that required full power from him, he had to change direction, and he felt something.”

Expected return date: Late September/early October.

William Saliba

Following just a few minutes into the significant match against Liverpool, Saliba had to leave the field due to injury. It was subsequently confirmed that he would not participate for France during the international break.

“William Saliba, who started for Arsenal in the match against Liverpool on Sunday, was substituted in the fifth minute,” a statement indicated. “He will be unable to attend the first training camp of the season.

“He is dealing with a sprained left ankle.

“After consulting with Franck Le Gall, the French team doctor, Didier Deschamps confirmed William Saliba’s unavailability. The national coach has opted to call up Benjamin Pavard as a replacement.”

With sprained ankles, the duration of Saliba’s absence remains uncertain, as recovery times can vary from a few weeks to several months. Nevertheless, he managed to give a thumbs-up to a journalist in the mixed zone when inquired about his condition.

What Arteta has stated: “He twisted his ankle during the warm-up, and he came in and expressed his belief that he could continue playing, but right away in the first two actions, I could see that he was struggling, and we had to take him out, unfortunately.”

Estimated return date: Unknown

Kai Havertz

Arsenal announced that Havertz underwent surgery last week for the issue he sustained against Man United on the opening day. However, Arteta seems optimistic that he won’t be sidelined for an extended period.

What Arteta has stated: “I believe it will be weeks, but I cannot specify how many months.

“It’s very unfortunate and quite sad for him. I think he did exceptionally well to recover from the previous injury. He has never experienced an injury before. And suddenly, this occurs, but this is part of our profession, our football.

“We must accept that. Clearly, we are losing another key player for many weeks. However, it was the right decision. The doctors recommended it, and I believe he was ultimately convinced that it was the fastest and most effective way to address the issue.

Every time there is a surgery, you anticipate something like this. I’ll allow the medical staff to provide a detailed explanation of what occurred. However, the most crucial aspect is that when he returns, he is in good health – and perhaps for an extended period, he will be safeguarded by the players.

Possible return date: Unknown

Martin Odegaard

Odegaard was not fit enough to start against Liverpool, but the Arsenal captain did manage to participate for the final 20 minutes at Anfield.

What Arteta has said: “So, Martin felt something in his shoulder when he landed. We don’t know. We’ll have to scan him tomorrow and understand a bit better.”

Possible return date: Returned

Ben White

White has now missed Arsenal’s last two Premier League matches, but it appears likely that he will return after the international break, having had two weeks to recover further.

What Arteta has said: “With Ben, let’s see…”

Possible return date: Nottingham Forest (H) – Saturday, September 13

Christian Norgaard

Norgaard is hoping to make his competitive debut against Nottingham Forest later this month, as an injury has kept him from playing for nearly a month.

What Arteta has said: “Christian won’t be in the squad [vs Leeds]. [He] will be out for another week or so.”

Possible return date: Nottingham Forest (H) – Saturday, September 13

Gabriel Jesus

After sustaining a serious knee injury back in January, Gabriel Jesus is not expected to return until later this year, and he could even be sidelined until early 2026 – with Arsenal excluding him from their squad for the Champions League group stages.

Possible return date: Late 2025/early 2026
