Big problems for Ruben Amorim, Bruno Fernandes among six Man United players absent from training ahead of Liverpool showdown…

Bruno Fernandes is one of six Manchester United players missing from training ahead of the clash with Liverpool.

Manchester United had several first-team players absent during today’s training session as they prepare for their match at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool will host their long-standing rivals in both teams’ first game following the October international break, with only two confirmed injury absentees for the Premier League champions: Alisson Becker and Giovanni Leoni (Premier Injuries).

There were concerns regarding Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate during their national team duties in recent days, but both issues appeared to be precautionary, and it is hoped they will be fit to face the Red Devils this weekend.

Who missed training for Manchester United today?

According to George Flood from The Standard, several notable players were absent from training earlier today as Manchester United gears up for their trip to Merseyside.

Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Matheus Cunha, Casemiro, Noussair Mazraoui, and Lisandro Martinez did not participate in the session at Carrington. The first four were granted extended time off due to their recent commitments with their national teams, which concluded on Tuesday.

The Moroccan full-back joined his national squad this month but did not play due to an unspecified injury, while the Argentine defender’s return from an ACL injury may be delayed until the Red Devils face Brighton later in October.

Liverpool desperately need to get back to winning ways against Manchester United.

Although the Manchester United captain was notably absent from training today, it appears that his absence, along with those of Amad and the Brazilian players, was simply due to a late return from international duty, and all four may be available to face Liverpool on Sunday.

It is uncertain whether Mazraoui or Martinez (who scored at Anfield last season) will be fit in time for the weekend, but overall, it seems that – similar to Arne Slot – Ruben Amorim will have a largely fit squad.

The Red Devils have drawn in their last two visits to L4, even though they were significantly lower than us in the Premier League standings on both occasions.

The champions will be eager to prevent history from repeating itself for a third time.

Liverpool will also have their own motivations this Sunday, beyond the obvious desire for bragging rights.

The Reds enter this match following three consecutive losses, and they could find themselves four points behind leaders Arsenal if the Gunners secure a win against Fulham on Saturday evening.

No matter who takes the field for Man United this weekend, Slot’s team will aim to demonstrate that their performance prior to the international break was just a minor setback, not the beginning of a lengthy downturn.
