Aston Villa playmaker could join Liverpool in January…

Aston Villa’s playmaker may transfer to Liverpool in January.

Harvey Elliott moved to Aston Villa from Liverpool during the summer transfer window, seeking the playing time he lacked at Anfield.

The young, adaptable player was underutilized by Arne Slot last season, prompting him to contemplate a departure from the club.

Unai Emery appeared to rescue him in the summer, or so he believed when he secured Elliott on a loan deal.

After making seven appearances for the club and scoring just one goal thus far, Elliott is finding it challenging to rejuvenate his career.

Harvey Elliott has struggled to make a significant impact at Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old has only featured in four Premier League matches this season, leading to speculation about a potential return to Liverpool in January.

While Villa is obligated to permanently acquire Elliott for £35 million, circumstances could shift for him as soon as January.

Former Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness has shared the latest insights regarding Elliott’s future and its implications for the young midfielder.

“I’m surprised because I believe he’s a talented player, but he hasn’t quite caught Emery’s attention,” Wyness stated on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

“Currently, there’s a significant conspiracy theory circulating. He’s on loan, and if he plays 10 games, it activates the obligation to buy.

“There are rumors that Liverpool wants him back as well, so if the loan isn’t solidified, he could return to Liverpool. Perhaps Liverpool is regretting not having him on the bench right now, especially with the challenges posed by their new expensive signings.

“Many Liverpool fans I’ve spoken to would prefer to see Elliott on the pitch rather than some of the other players.”

Liverpool might contemplate terminating Elliott’s loan agreement.

Emery has struggled to maximize Elliott’s potential thus far, and given the current situation, a return to Liverpool could be feasible in January.

Elliott is not only facing challenges at Villa, but the Reds are also short on depth in the midfield area, a role that Elliott filled effectively from the bench last season.

Have Liverpool erred in permitting his departure from the club? It may be too soon to draw that conclusion, but one thing is clear: Slot’s team would significantly benefit from having Elliott in the lineup.
