Odegaard’s injury update as Arteta provides news on five Arsenal players
Latest on Martin Odegaard’s injury as Mikel Arteta updates on five Arsenal players
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has shared the latest on his injured squad ahead of the Premier League match against Fulham this Saturday.
Mikel Arteta has provided updates regarding Martin Odegaard and four other players as Arsenal prepares for their Premier League encounter with Fulham.
“It will take weeks, and there is no specific date for his return, but he is making good progress,” he stated about Odegaard. “It’s unfortunate, but he should be back in a few weeks.
“It’s possible he could return before the November international break, but we need to monitor his progress, how his knee is healing, and how he responds after the next phases of his rehabilitation. So, it’s too soon to provide a definitive answer.
There were worries regarding Martin Zubimendi and Ben White after they were absent from open training on Thursday, but Arteta has reassured that both players are fine.
Regarding Zubimendi’s absence, Arteta commented: “Yes, all players come from various countries, with different game loads and minutes played, and we felt it was the right decision. He has played two matches recently, and his workload has been quite high, so he requires an additional day off.”
“Yes, White is in a very similar situation. We are keeping an eye on all players and providing tailored training regimens to ensure they are in optimal condition.”
Arteta also provided updates on Noni Madueke and Kai Havertz, noting that the two forwards are at different stages in their recovery from knee injuries.
“He is getting closer as well. He will soon begin running and other activities, and we will see how that goes,” he mentioned regarding Madueke.
“It’s quite challenging,” Arteta responded when questioned about the possibility of Havertz surprising everyone by returning sooner than anticipated. “There remains a significant amount of work in his rehabilitation. He’s really pushing himself, we know Kai, and that’s why we hold him in such high regard. However, we must be patient and observe. I believe we are making excellent progress with him once more.
“He aims to surpass every timeline, I’m confident of that. Yet, we also need to safeguard him and ensure that when he returns, it’s for the long haul.”
Havertz has been sidelined since the opening match victory against Manchester United due to a knee issue that necessitated a minor procedure.
Meanwhile, Madueke encountered a similar problem against Manchester City last month, coinciding with Bukayo Saka’s return from a hamstring injury.
Although Saka has been available for some time, he feels he has not yet regained his full match sharpness.
“Naturally, I began the season and suffered an injury, which was quite disheartening, but I’m beginning to feel good again,” he remarked after netting a goal in England’s 3-0 triumph over Wales.
“I’m not at my peak yet, but I’m starting to feel better and I’ve scored in my last three matches, which makes me happy, and I aim to keep it going.”
