Arsenal XI vs Wolves: confirmed lineup, team news, injury latest for Premier League game today
Arsenal are gearing up for a crucial Premier League clash against Wolves, with Mikel Arteta aiming to bounce back from their recent European setback.
The Gunners are focused on regaining their momentum in the title race, with the opportunity to go top of the table this weekend. Arteta will need to ensure his team is mentally and physically prepared to face the challenges ahead, following recent defeats and scrutiny over their progress.
Arsenal is facing a crucial moment as Mikel Arteta aims to bounce back from their midweek European setback by seizing the perfect opportunity to get their Premier League title hopes back on course against Wolves.
The focus is now fully on Arsenal as they strive to stay in the title race. With no distractions from European competitions, it is essential for Arteta’s team to regroup and push forward in the league.
Arsenal still has a shot at finishing the weekend at the top of the Premier League table, and only a highly unlikely massive victory for Liverpool on Sunday could alter that. Manchester City might find themselves four points behind the leaders before their next league match, providing Arsenal with a chance to relieve some pressure.
However, Arteta must guide his team through the mental and physical challenges they have faced in the past week. Defeats to Aston Villa and Bayern Munich have raised doubts about the progress Arsenal has made since last season.
Jurrien Timber is making a return for Arsenal, however, he will not be participating in their Premier League match against Wolves tonight.
After sustaining a knee injury in the opening Premier League game of the season, Timber has been sidelined and underwent surgery.
Fortunately, Timber’s recovery is going smoothly and he has resumed training. Nevertheless, he is not yet prepared to join the first team.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has disclosed that the intention is for Timber to initially feature in the club’s youth team.
Arteta mentioned that he will assess the player’s performance after playing with the Under-23s to determine his readiness. He emphasized the importance of the final step in the player’s recovery process and the need to evaluate his condition.
During pre-season, the player showcased versatility by playing in different positions. Arteta stated that the decision on his position for upcoming games will depend on the team’s available players and tactical considerations.
Arsenal will face Wolves tonight, marking their third match in a week following defeats to Bayern Munich and Aston Villa. Arteta is likely to make changes to the lineup, with Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko vying for starting spots.
Projected Arsenal lineup (4-3-3): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Jorginho, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Jesus.
There are no uncertainties.
Timber is injured (knee).
The Arsenal team consists of: Ramsdale, Raya, Hein; Gabriel, Cedric, Kiwior, Saliba, Tomiyasu, White, Zinchenko; Elneny, Havertz, Jorginho, Odegaard, Partey, Rice, Smith Rowe, Vieira; Jesus, Martinelli, Nelson, Nketiah, Saka and Trossard.
The match will take place at 7:30pm BST on Saturday April 20, 2024.
