Arsenal’s Ambition Disrupts Transfer Market as Liverpool Eyes Rodrygo.

Following a remarkable acquisition of Eberechi Eze, Arsenal has altered the landscape of this summer’s transfer window.

As reported by TeamTalk, the Gunners are not halting their efforts, with Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta allegedly seeking another high-profile signing before the September 1 deadline.

Their chase for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo could potentially upset Liverpool’s strategies and even pose a challenge to Arne Slot’s goal of maintaining Liverpool’s position at the top of English football.

Eze’s Arrival Highlights Arsenal’s Determination.

Tottenham Hotspur were nearing a deal for Eze, but Arsenal moved swiftly to finalize an agreement with Crystal Palace for the England international.

Eze is anticipated to officially join this weekend, bringing creativity and energy to a squad already rich in attacking talent.

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has already predicted a title win for the Gunners following Eze’s signing, stating that his addition could be transformative.

The Gunners’ ambition has ignited further speculation, with attention now squarely on Rodrygo.

Arsenal has long held admiration for the Brazilian forward, who has found success at Real Madrid but now faces uncertainty under Xabi Alonso.

Liverpool Joins the Race for Rodrygo.

Liverpool’s interest in Rodrygo is well-known. TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Rudy Galetti, reported on July 27 that Liverpool views Rodrygo as the perfect replacement for Luis Diaz, who transferred to Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

An August 21 report added more intrigue, suggesting that “Rodrygo’s agents have arrived in the UK to ‘hold talks’ with both Liverpool and Manchester City.”

The City connection arises from Savinho’s potential transfer to Tottenham, prompting Pep Guardiola’s team to keep an eye on Rodrygo as a backup option. This three-way competition could shape the concluding phase of the transfer window.

Graeme Bailey is of the opinion that Arsenal is still in the race despite finalizing the Eze transfer. In a conversation with TBR, Bailey remarked: “Rodrygo didn’t see any playing time in the last match. We’ll have to wait and see what unfolds this weekend. There’s still potential for Rodrygo to join Arsenal. This is why we mentioned earlier this week that Arsenal might be considering a loan option, and I wouldn’t dismiss it. They maintain a strong rapport with Madrid. They’ve successfully done it before with [Martin] Odegaard.”

He continued, “I certainly wouldn’t eliminate that possibility, especially if Rodrygo makes a push in the final 10 days, which is quite feasible. And I still wouldn’t completely exclude [Manchester] City from the discussion just yet.”

Is a Loan Move Feasible?

Madrid’s position seems unequivocal. They have set Rodrygo’s value at €100 million (£86.2m), making a loan transfer unlikely.

TEAMtalk reports that the Spanish club views the Brazilian as an essential part of their squad, despite his limited appearances.

He was an unused substitute against Osasuna and only started once during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Alonso appears to favor other players, but Madrid’s intention to maintain depth for another Champions League campaign complicates any potential departure.

Rodrygo himself is in a difficult situation. At Madrid, he has primarily played on the right or in central positions, but he prefers the left wing.

A transfer to Arsenal wouldn’t resolve that dilemma, as Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard currently fill that position.

With Martin Odegaard and Eze likely to dominate the central areas, a move to north London might seem like a lateral shift.

Arsenal supporters may envision an attacking lineup featuring Odegaard, Eze, Martinelli, and Rodrygo, but reason indicates that Madrid will be reluctant to loan out a player whom Mikel Merino has described as “very complete, fast, physical, technical and great one-on-one.”

This saga exhibits all the characteristics of a thrilling transfer conclusion. From Liverpool’s viewpoint, losing out on Rodrygo would be painful, especially after the departure of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich.

Arne Slot is in need of another wide player, as Diogo Jota’s unfortunate passing has created a significant gap in both skill and leadership.

At just 24, Rodrygo brings Champions League experience and adaptability, making him an ideal match for Liverpool’s fast-paced approach.

Nevertheless, the financial implications are daunting. A price tag of €100 million is considerable, even for a talent like Rodrygo.

A loan arrangement seems unlikely unless Real Madrid capitulates to player pressure, which could happen if Bailey’s suggestion about the “last 10 days” turns out to be true.

On the other hand, Arsenal supporters are basking in this new confidence. Eze’s addition indicates ambition, and securing Rodrygo would be a declaration of power.

However, integrating him tactically poses a challenge. With Martinelli, Trossard, and Bukayo Saka already in the mix, where would Rodrygo fit in without causing disruption?

For Manchester City, this situation appears more opportunistic than urgent. They may act if Savinho leaves, but they are not in a position of desperation.

Conclusion: This is a situation to monitor as the deadline day approaches. If Rodrygo seeks a new challenge and Madrid is willing to negotiate, anticipate Liverpool to make the strongest push.

Arsenal’s interest may keep the media engaged, but their focus should be on maintaining balance within an already impressive squad.
