Five players ruled out as Arteta makes six adjustments | Anticipated Arsenal lineup vs Brentford

Arsenal is preparing to face Brentford, with Mikel Arteta likely to make significant changes to his squad in anticipation of next week’s second leg against Real Madrid.

This week marks a pivotal moment in Arsenal’s history, following an impressive victory over Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

The Gunners will host Brentford at the Emirates, and Arteta is expected to rotate his squad, keeping in mind the upcoming match at the Santiago Bernabeu.

In his pre-match press conference, Arteta shared updates on the injuries of Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice.

He is not expected to make drastic alterations to the lineup, which will resemble that of last weekend.

To ensure that key players were fit for the Champions League encounter with Real Madrid, Arteta fielded a significantly altered team against Everton.

There were some worries after Tuesday’s match when Saka and Rice appeared to be injured.

However, Arteta eased those concerns, confirming that both players are fit. He stated, “With Dec and Bukayo, they’re both fit. It was just a matter of two kicks and they recovered well, so they are available for tomorrow.

Ricky’s progressing really well. I think providing a timeline is challenging because he needs to step up, especially with more people around and how he reacts afterward, but he’s in a good place.”

Regarding team selection, Arteta may choose to retain defensive pair William Saliba and Jakub Kiwior in central defense to further develop their partnership.

Jurrien Timber and Myles Lewis-Skelly might be rested, with Ben White and Kieran Tierney stepping in as their replacements.

Thomas Partey delivered an impressive performance on Tuesday, and similar to the previous weekend, Arteta may choose to rest the midfielder for the upcoming match against Brentford, allowing Jorginho to take his place.

In contrast to last Saturday, Rice might begin the game on the bench, with Mikel Merino potentially stepping into a midfield position, while Martin Odegaard is anticipated to start.

Ethan Nwaneri did not feature in the match against Real Madrid at the Emirates on Tuesday, but he could be given a starting opportunity against Brentford in lieu of Saka.

Leandro Trossard may take on a central role, and Raheem Sterling could come in for Gabriel Martinelli on the left wing.

Predicted Arsenal XI: Raya; Ben White, Saliba, Kiwior, Tierney; Odegaard, Jorginho, Merino; Nwaneri, Trossard, Sterling.
