Arsenal player ratings against Bournemouth: The Premier League’s elite! A brilliant performance from Declan Rice in midfield as Gabriel makes amends for his earlier blunder.
Arsenal player ratings against Bournemouth: Rice shines as a 4/10 is rescued by his teammates.
BOURNEMOUTH 2-3 ARSENAL: The north London side rallied to secure all three points.
Arsenal overcame an early deficit to achieve victory over Bournemouth, maintaining their position at the top of the Premier League standings. The visitors found themselves in trouble early on due to a moment of folly, as Gabriel Magalhaes inexplicably passed the ball directly to Evanilson while under pressure. This allowed the Cherries striker to slot the ball into an unguarded net, putting Arsenal in a challenging position.
Gabriel quickly made up for his mistake just minutes later, driving the ball into the net after Noni Madueke’s powerful run created chaos in the penalty area. Arsenal struggled to find their rhythm until the second half, when they took the lead with a superb finish from Declan Rice, who later added another goal with another excellent strike.
Bournemouth ignited hopes of a comeback when Eli Junior Kroupi found the net from distance shortly after coming on as a substitute. However, they could not find an equalizer in the dying moments, allowing the Gunners to exhale in relief at the final whistle.
Offiside.com evaluates and critiques the Arsenal players following today’s win…
Arsenal player ratings against Bournemouth
David Raya – 6
Had little chance to prevent either goal, with Gabriel’s error leading to the first and Kroupi finding the corner for the second. He dealt well with everything else thrown his way apart from those two instances.
Jurrien Timber – 6
Managed the right side reasonably well, regaining possession and connecting with teammates through simple passes. Occasionally pushed forward and linked up effectively with Madueke.
William Saliba – 7
Utilized his aerial ability to manage Bournemouth’s crosses and positioned himself effectively for key interceptions and tackles. A commendable performance.
Gabriel Magalhaes – 6
Endured a difficult moment for the first goal but quickly redeemed himself by scoring from close range shortly after. Performed well for the remainder of the match.
Piero Hincapie – 5
Faced challenges, occasionally losing possession due to a poor first touch and making suboptimal choices about whether to move inside or outside.
Martin Zubimendi – 5
Seemed to be off the pace and had difficulty coping with Bournemouth’s pressing. Managed to keep the midfield functioning to some degree, but could have contributed more significantly to the game.
Declan Rice – 8
Was underperforming until he found the net with a superb finish, then added another goal as the match neared its conclusion. Ultimately, a match-winning display.
Martin Odegaard – 7
Clearly instructed to play deeper than usual, which did not yield the intended results initially. Showed improvement after halftime, providing the assist for Rice’s first goal and contributing to his teammate’s second.
Noni Madueke – 7
Appeared energetic from the outset, utilizing his agility to penetrate the final third. Set up the equalizer with a skillful run to the byline that created chaos in the box.
Gabriel Martinelli – 4
Had ample possession but failed to make an impact, allowing the game to slip away from him. Remained largely unnoticed throughout his time on the field.
Viktor Gyokeres – 6
Put in considerable effort to create opportunities for himself but struggled to get many shots off. Did well to support Rice’s first goal by holding up the ball.
Substitutes
Bukayo Saka – 7
Played a crucial role in setting up Arsenal’s third goal with an excellent pass to Rice. An impactful appearance from the winger.
Gabriel Jesus – 6
Had limited chances with the ball as Arsenal shifted to a defensive stance after conceding a second goal.
Leandro Trossard – 5
Misplaced the ball several times due to excessive touches and appeared overly relaxed while in possession. Not impressive.
Mikel Merino – 6
Came on after Bournemouth’s second goal to add some additional stability in the midfield and performed his role adequately.
