Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his frustration following a disappointing draw against Manchester United, which further hindered their pursuit of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Similar to the previous season, Arsenal required a victory to maintain their title aspirations.

However, they found themselves needing to equalize after conceding a goal from a Bruno Fernandes free-kick, ultimately salvaging a draw thanks to Declan Rice despite dominating the match.

Arteta remarked, “We created some incredible opportunities, but we failed to execute the final shot or pass.”

“We didn’t take advantage of our chances, rushed our play, and began losing duels, which could have led to a loss.”

A silver lining was the return of Gabriel Martinelli from injury, yet questions arose regarding the team’s goal-scoring capabilities in the absence of forwards Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus.

The Catalan coach acknowledged, “At times, that’s what we lack. The execution needs to be directed to the right player, and that player must be ready to shoot.”

“The way we allowed chances against us in certain situations was unacceptable. Their quality means they often find the right player, which usually results in a goal.”

He added, “We opened the door to a potential defeat. There was no reason for us to lose, yet we created that opportunity ourselves. I will always support my players, but we must perform better in those critical moments.”
