Arsenal injury update: Latest news and return dates for Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Piero Hincapie, and Noni Madueke.

The Gunners faced two new injuries during their match against West Ham on Saturday.

Arsenal received a boost as an injured star may return following the international break.

Despite extending their unbeaten streak to seven matches with a 2-0 victory over West Ham on Saturday, the Gunners were hit with two new injury concerns that dampened their spirits at full-time.

Martin Odegaard, who had just returned from a shoulder injury, was taken off due to a knee injury after only half an hour of play, while Declan Rice was substituted in the second half due to back pain.

Mikel Arteta’s team has managed to navigate significant injury challenges early in the season and will be hopeful of having a fully fit squad available after the October international break.

Here’s the latest on Arsenal’s injury situation…

Martin Odegaard

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard set an unfortunate record on Saturday, becoming the first player in history to be substituted before half-time in three consecutive matches.

He was taken off against West Ham after colliding knees with Crysencio Summerville. Although he attempted to continue playing, he was ultimately replaced by Martin Zubimendi.

After the match, Mikel Arteta commented that the player was “not positive” regarding the injury.

“He had a clash, knee to knee. Immediately, he felt discomfort,” he explained. “He’s not optimistic about it. He has a brace on it. Hopefully, it’s not too serious.

“We haven’t had him available since the start of the season for various reasons. The shoulder injuries and now this one. We need to wait and see how serious this injury is.”

On Sunday, Arsenal confirmed that the midfielder has sustained a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee and has withdrawn from international duty with Norway. No timeline for his return to action has been provided.

Potential return date: Unknown

Declan Rice

Declan Rice began the scoring against West Ham on Saturday, but he was also unable to finish the match.

He fell to the ground with just over ten minutes remaining, clutching his lower back.

Arteta commented: “He had a collision, knee to knee. He felt discomfort immediately.

“His outlook isn’t positive. He’s wearing a brace. We hope it’s not too serious.

“We haven’t had him available since the season started due to various issues. He’s had two shoulder injuries and now this one. We need to assess the severity of this injury.”

However, there was encouraging news for Arsenal on Monday as Rice participated in training with the England squad, easing any concerns about his injury.

Expected return date: October 18, against Fulham (A)

Noni Madueke

Noni Madueke was just starting to settle in at the Emirates when he suffered a knee injury.

He was substituted at half-time during a 1-1 draw with Man City, with Arteta later disclosing that he would be out for several months.

After the match, Arteta stated: “He experienced an issue very early in the game and wasn’t fit enough to continue.”

Expected return date: Late November

Piero Hincapie

Piero Hincapie joins his fellow summer recruit Madueke on the injury list, dealing with a groin injury.

Before the match against West Ham, Arteta remarked about the Ecuadorian: “We’ve been trying to expedite his recovery, but this match came too soon.

Now that we have an international break, we hope he can have a few training sessions with the team and be ready to return.”

He aims to be back in the mix right after the international break.

Expected return date: October 18, against Fulham (A)

Kai Havertz

Arsenal’s talented German Kai Havertz has yet to make an appearance this season following knee surgery.

Arteta has confirmed that he is recovering, regaining strength in the injured knee through physiotherapy.

“He’s beginning to put weight on the knee and has started doing some exercises,” Arteta mentioned.

“As I mentioned earlier, I believe we are extending the timeline from weeks to months. However, given Kai’s tendencies, I cannot provide a specific timeframe as I am aware of his intentions.

“At this point, I feel he is in a favorable situation. It was an extremely difficult choice for him to undergo that procedure, but I believe it was essential and the medical team’s recommendation to encourage him to proceed was the right one.”

Potential return date: November

Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus is also currently out as he recuperates from an ACL injury.

He is training on the field, yet he has not been included in Arsenal’s Champions League roster, indicating that he may not be fit until the new year.

Arteta stated earlier this month: “[Jesus] underwent significant surgery that will require many months for recovery.

“After consulting with the medical team and assessing our schedule, we anticipated that he could be available between December and January, leading us to make that decision, similar to what we have done with other players in the past.

“We hope we are mistaken and he returns sooner. However, as of now, the expectations are quite clear.”

Potential return date: December/January
