Arsenal have turned their attention to a £42m winger, suggesting a potential change in their transfer plans regarding a striker.

The Gunners are now eyeing a £42m winger, indicating a possible shift in their transfer priorities away from a striker.

Arsenal are reportedly considering a £42m winger as they shift their attention away from pursuing a striker following Benjamin Sesko’s decision to stay at RB Leipzig.

Arsenal could potentially shift their attention towards acquiring a wide forward rather than a striker following Benjamin Sesko’s choice to remain at RB Leipzig, as per reports.

On Tuesday morning, news circulated that Benjamin Sesko is likely to reject offers from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United to stay with RB Leipzig this season.

Sesko was believed to be a top target for Arsenal as a centre-forward, so his decision has raised questions about which other striker the club might now pursue.

According to Simon Collings’ report for The Standard, Arsenal’s interest in Joshua Zirkzee has been mentioned, but there are new reports suggesting that the Gunners may consider a different position instead.

Collings states that Arsenal is not only interested in Zirkzee but also exploring options for wide forwards, potentially opting to sign a winger rather than a center-forward.

Furthermore, Collings reveals that Nico Williams from Athletic Club is one of the players Arsenal is considering for a summer transfer.

In a previous report by The Telegraph in May, it was mentioned that Arsenal could shift their focus to signing a winger instead of a striker, depending on the availability of their desired targets. It appears that this possibility is now being seriously considered.

David Ornstein confirmed in May that Arsenal had an interest in Williams, but he also mentioned that there were other clubs pursuing him.

There was no certainty that Williams would depart from his current team. The player has a release clause of €50m (£42.1m), but his high wage demands have been a topic of discussion, making any potential transfer an expensive one.

Despite this, Williams’ current club seems to be getting ready for his potential departure by securing a deal for Alvaro Djalo from Braga as a possible replacement.

The winger had an impressive season in 2023/24, scoring eight goals and providing 17 assists in 37 matches for Athletic Club. Currently, he is representing Spain in Euro 2024.
