Arsenal matches that Martin Odegaard might miss in a worst-case scenario following the latest update – injury specialist.

Despite Arsenal climbing to the top of the Premier League with a win against West Ham United, it was yet another forgettable afternoon for Martin Odegaard as his injury troubles persisted.

Arteta acknowledges Odegaard’s injury is “not positive”.

Last season was filled with injury challenges for Arsenal as a whole. So much so that a significant portion of their summer investments focused on enhancing the quality and depth of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

While this has alleviated several issues, Mikel Arteta still faces a significant concern regarding Odegaard after the Norwegian exited the pitch injured for the third consecutive match on Saturday.

It appeared that Arsenal’s summer acquisitions were finally coming together against West Ham.

Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka, and Viktor Gyokeres all showcased their talents, and any doubts about Arteta’s cautious approach seemed destined to dissipate until Odegaard’s injury disrupted the momentum.

Arteta, equally frustrated, provided an update on the midfielder during his post-match comments – stating: “With Martin, it was a knee-to-knee clash.

It’s not looking very positive at this moment. He felt discomfort immediately. I just spoke with him, and he’s not optimistic about it; he’s wearing a brace, and we’ll have to wait for the doctors’ assessment.”

On Sunday, Arsenal released an update on Odegaard, indicating he has suffered ‘a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee’ and has withdrawn from international duty with Norway.

The pressing question is how long Odegaard will be sidelined. He has already missed three games across all competitions, and an injury expert has now disclosed the worst-case scenario for the Arsenal captain following this latest setback.

In response to the injury, injury expert Physio Scout took to X to indicate that Odegaard could be out for as long as six weeks due to a Grade 2 MCL injury, suggesting that a Grade 3 injury is unlikely.

Anticipated Recovery Durations: Grade 1: 1–3 weeks, Grade 2: 3-6 weeks, Grade 3: 6-10 weeks or more.

A Grade 3 injury seems improbable in this case; a Grade 1 or 2 sprain appears to be more likely.

If Odegaard is sidelined for six weeks, he would miss seven matches leading up to the next international break in November, which includes Champions League games against Atletico Madrid.
