Arsenal has been sanctioned by the FA for not adhering to regulations during the game against Man Utd.

Arsenal penalized for breaching rules against Man United.

Earlier this year, Arsenal competed against Manchester United in the FA Cup, and a heated dispute between the two Premier League teams has persisted since the match occurred.

Arsenal has received a suspended fine of £500,000 for violating FA Cup regulations prior to their encounter with Manchester United in January.

The contention revolved around the ticket allocation for United’s away fans.

The Red Devils were allocated 8,000 seats at the Emirates, which is fewer than they were entitled to. According to FA regulations, away teams must be given up to 15 percent of the stadium’s capacity, exceeding the percentage required for Premier League games.

United lodged a complaint with the FA after not receiving the maximum 9,000 tickets, but the Gunners cited safety issues.

The Safety Advisory Group determined that the upper tier at the Emirates could not be utilized for away supporters due to concerns regarding persistent standing.

Now, the FA has delivered a ruling, nine months after the match took place, where United triumphed 5-3 on penalties.

A statement indicated: “It was alleged that Arsenal FC had violated the 2024-25 FA Cup Rule 192, and the issue was referred to the PGB (Professional Game Board) for review.

“The PGB found that Arsenal FC had not adhered to the 2024-25 FA Cup Rule 192 and imposed a suspended fine of £500,000.

This fine is suspended pending Arsenal FC’s assurance that it can meet this requirement for the 2025-26 FA Cup third round and maintain compliance for any subsequent rounds of this season’s competition.”

This concludes a protracted dispute between the clubs. United also secured victory on the field, with the match ending 1-1 after extra time.

Ruben Amorim’s team thus progressed to the fourth round, defeating Leicester 2-1 at home. However, the Red Devils’ journey was cut short as Fulham triumphed on penalties at Old Trafford in the fifth round.

In March, Arsenal and United clashed once more, resulting in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. They subsequently met again in Manchester on the first day of the new season, where the Gunners emerged victorious with a 1-0 scoreline.

Unless they encounter each other in another FA Cup match, their next meeting is scheduled for the weekend of January 24. Arsenal currently leads the Premier League table, having amassed 16 points from their first seven matches.

On the other hand, United finds themselves in 10th place following a challenging start to the season.

However, they have secured victories in three of their last five games and are looking forward to next Sunday’s match at Anfield against their fierce rivals, Liverpool.

Arsenal will be cheering them on, as Mikel Arteta and his team aim to outpace Liverpool for the title after narrowly missing it last year.

The Premier League is presently paused due to the ongoing international break.
