Arsenal, currently leading the race among English clubs, is determined to secure a “prolific” striker for a bargain price of £38.5m…
Arsenal has emerged as the frontrunner among English clubs in the pursuit of a highly sought-after striker, valued at a bargain price of £38.5 million. This prolific goal-scorer has caught the attention of the Gunners, positioning them ahead of their domestic rivals in the race to secure his services.
While their focus remains on the Premier League title, the club is already planning for the future and aiming to acquire a top-tier talent at an incredibly affordable cost.
Despite their recent achievements on the field, Arsenal has struggled to find consistent performance in their forward line since the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. This has resulted in a revolving door of strikers who have failed to make a significant impact for the Gunners.
This season, Mikel Arteta has been experimenting with different players in the number nine position, hoping that one of them will shine. Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have both had their chances, while Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard have also been given opportunities. The constant rotation of strikers means that Arsenal is once again relying on their wingers and midfielders to score goals.
The upcoming summer transfer window could bring an end to Arsenal’s search for a number nine, as they are currently leading the race to sign one of Europe’s most promising talents.
Gunners in pole position for Zirkzee
Joshua Zirkzee, who had a mixed start to his professional career, seems to be fulfilling the potential he showed when he joined Bayern Munich as a teenager in 2017.
Despite struggling for playing time at Bayern, the Dutch striker made an impact off the bench, catching the eye of scout and analyst Jacek Kulig, who praised him as a prolific talent in June 2020.
The Dutch forward, now 22 years old, is currently playing for Serie A club Bologna and has been in sensational form in Italy, scoring ten goals across all competitions this season, including a crucial winner against Lazio.
His impressive goal-scoring abilities have attracted interest from top European clubs, with reports indicating that Arsenal is at the forefront of the race to sign him. Valued at £38.5 million, Zirkzee is expected to make a move during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Zirkzee’s performances in Italy have garnered attention from various quarters of the footballing world. Given Bologna’s reasonable asking price, it comes as no surprise that several elite clubs are vying for the young striker’s signature. Journalist Zack Lowy has even suggested that the team securing Zirkzee’s services will be making a smart investment.
One potential obstacle for Arsenal is Bayern Munich’s buyback clause for Zirkzee, allowing them to re-sign the player at a lower cost than other interested clubs. However, Bayern might be open to letting Zirkzee join another team, as they stand to benefit from 50% of any future transfer fees involving the Dutchman.
By acquiring Zirkzee, Arsenal would be adding a talented striker with immense potential to their squad. Given the skyrocketing prices of top forwards in the market, passing up on the opportunity to sign the 22-year-old would be unwise for the Gunners.
