Arsenal has swiftly initiated measures to address the injury of Martin Odegaard, as Mikel Arteta considers a surprising £84 million transfer.

Following Martin Odegaard’s injury, Arsenal act quickly, with Mikel Arteta looking into a potential £84 million transfer that could catch many off guard.

Following Odegaard’s injury sustained during the international break, Arsenal seems to have identified a potential replacement.

The club is facing a midfield dilemma, with Arteta potentially missing Mikel Merino, Declan Rice, and Odegaard for the upcoming North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

Merino incurred a shoulder injury during his first training session at London Colney after joining from Real Sociedad.

Additionally, Declan Rice is unavailable due to suspension after receiving a second yellow card in the recent 1-1 draw against Brighton.

On Monday night, Martin Odegaard suffered an ankle injury during a Nations League match against Austria while contesting possession with Christoph Baumgartner.

Until further scan results are available, his participation remains uncertain.

Unless Arsenal explores the free agent market, Arteta will not be able to add new players to the squad until January.

Nevertheless, the Gunners are already preparing for their first signing in the upcoming transfer window.

Reports from CaughtOffiside indicate that Arsenal is “seriously interested” in acquiring Javi Guerra from Valencia. The 21-year-old midfielder was previously linked to Atletico Madrid before they opted for Conor Gallagher.

The report also mentions that Aston Villa is interested in the Spain Under-21 international, who has a €100 million (£84.3 million) release clause in his contract.

Guerra, whose contract runs until June 2027, has made four appearances for Valencia in La Liga this season, with the last two being brief appearances off the bench.

CaughtOffside reports that despite having a substantial release clause, Valencia is contemplating selling Javi Guerra for under €30 million (£25.3 million) in the near future.

Recently, the sporting director of Valencia explained the reasons behind Guerra’s failed transfer to Atletico Madrid.

“Atlético de Madrid indicated that they were attempting to withdraw from the Gallagher deal with Chelsea, and if that did not materialize, they would not be able to proceed with the transfer of Javi Guerra,” stated Miguel Angel Corona during the introduction of Dani Gómez at the club.

“This was the first time we were made aware of such a situation. Consequently, we chose to withdraw, as this condition had not been previously discussed, despite numerous communications including calls, WhatsApps, emails, legal advice, and contract stipulations. We were not informed about this development, so to protect Javi and for our own interests, we decided to step back.”

Last year, Guerra was rumored to be moving to Manchester United until Corona issued a warning to keep their distance.

“In an interview with the Daily Mail, the Valencia director remarked, “We recognize that we have a player with significant potential for the future and the capability to perform well currently.

“This is why the club has made a decisive move to elevate him to the first team in recent months.

“We do not intend to sell him to any club. Our future strategy involves providing him with the right environment to fully develop under Ruben Baraja, becoming a key player, and helping to shape a Valencia team for the near future around talents like him.

“The rise of Javi Guerra has not taken us by surprise. We have long been aware of his abilities, and we have been supporting him while pushing him to excel at every level, from youth to elite.

“He must continue to work diligently. We need to be careful in evaluating his current level or predicting how far he can go, as he is still young and has a long journey ahead.

“Ultimately, it will be his daily efforts that determine his potential.”
