Arne Slot provides an update on Alexander Isak’s injury as three players are confirmed out for the match against Real Madrid.

Arne Slot has announced that three Liverpool players will miss the Champions League match against Real Madrid on Tuesday night due to injuries.

Earlier today, Paul Joyce shared mixed news from the squad’s training session in Kirkby, noting that Curtis Jones participated, while Alexander Isak was notably absent.

Alisson Becker and Jeremie Frimpong also missed the weekend victory over Aston Villa, with Frimpong expressing on social media that his current injury situation is ‘really annoying’.

Slot provides injury updates for Liverpool ahead of the Real Madrid match.

Slot spoke to the media on Monday during his press conference before the Real Madrid game, offering updates on the injuries of the Swedish striker, Dutch right-back, and Brazilian goalkeeper.

The Liverpool head coach stated (via liverpoolfc.com): “All three are unavailable for tomorrow. Jeremie and Alisson will also not be available for Sunday’s match against Manchester City.

“Regarding Alex, we need to wait and see. He will definitely not start on Sunday, but there is a possibility he could be included in the squad. He is still not training with the team, so we will have to wait and see.”

Isak’s absence due to injury is particularly disappointing.

It is not surprising that Alisson and Frimpong are unlikely to return before the November international break, and while Slot remains hopeful that Isak might participate against Man City, the news regarding the £125m striker is still disheartening.

Our number one goalkeeper has been sidelined for the past five weeks due to injury, but it is hoped that the upcoming break in the season will provide him with the necessary time to prepare for the match against Nottingham Forest when we return on the 22nd of this month.

Recently, Lewis Steele indicated that Frimpong is expected to be out until early December, making it seem very unlikely that the Dutchman would be fit for the matches against Real Madrid and Man City.

Isak is yet another summer acquisition who has experienced a somewhat inconsistent start to his Liverpool tenure, having only just returned to full fitness before suffering a groin injury during the victory against Eintracht Frankfurt two weeks ago.

We can only hope that he will be fit enough to at least sit on the bench next Sunday – having him available as an option would be greatly appreciated, especially considering the threat posed by a certain Erling Haaland in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
