Arne Slot has been charged with misconduct by the FA following his red card, while Liverpool and Everton are also facing disciplinary action after the tumultuous conclusion of the Merseyside derby…

Arne Slot, along with Everton and Liverpool, has been charged by the Football Association (FA) following the tumultuous conclusion of the Merseyside derby on Wednesday.
The FA has issued a misconduct charge against Arne Slot due to his red card, and both Liverpool and Everton are set to receive penalties in light of the chaotic finish to the Merseyside derby.
The atmosphere at Goodison Park escalated after the intense 2-2 draw between Everton and Liverpool.
Both Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure received red cards for their altercation, and Reds manager Slot was subsequently dismissed, along with his assistant, for allegedly using “insulting and/or abusive words and/or behavior towards a match official.” The FA has now issued charges to all involved parties, who must respond by February 19.
The FA has released a statement after a previous one was retracted by the Premier League the day after the match. The announcement stated: “Everton, Liverpool, Arne Slot, and Sipke Hulshoff have been charged following the Premier League match between the clubs on Wednesday, February 12.
“It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants behaved in a proper and/or non-provocative manner after the final whistle.
“The Liverpool manager is accused of acting improperly and/or using insulting and/or abusive language and/or behavior towards both the match referee and an assistant referee after the match concluded.
“It is also alleged that Liverpool’s assistant manager acted inappropriately and/or used insulting and/or abusive language and/or behavior towards a match official, resulting in his dismissal.
Furthermore, he is accused of continuing to act improperly and/or using insulting and/or abusive language and/or behavior towards a match official after being sent off.
Everton, Liverpool, Arne Slot, and Sipke Hulshoff have until next Wednesday, February 19, to submit their responses.”
The recent match may have inflicted short-term setbacks on Liverpool, particularly with the impending suspensions for Jones and Slot.
However, it also impacted their pursuit of Premier League success in May.
The Reds had an opportunity to increase their lead over second-placed Arsenal to nine points but were only able to extend it to seven, thereby allowing the Gunners to remain competitive in the title race.
With the deadline for a response not due until next week, Slot might still be present on the touchline for the upcoming match against Wolves, potentially missing the subsequent fixtures against Aston Villa and Manchester City.
