Rio Ferdinand and Martin Keown in agreement over which team Viktor Gyokeres should join either Arsenal or Manchester United…
Rio Ferdinand and Martin Keown concur on which club Viktor Gyokeres should consider joining, Arsenal or Manchester United.
As the summer transfer window approaches, both Arsenal and Manchester United may be on the lookout for a new striker.
After 12 matches in the Premier League, neither team is positioned as they would prefer in the standings.
Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta, has faced injury challenges this season, notably with captain Martin Odegaard missing significant time due to injury.
In contrast, Manchester United’s situation appears more tumultuous, with Ruben Amorim now stepping in to replace Erik ten Hag.
Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as a focal point of discussion between Ferdinand and Keown.
Ferdinand expressed his views on whether Gyokeres should opt for Arsenal or Manchester United. Arsenal is reportedly interested in Gyokeres as they aim to secure a prominent striker after missing out last summer.
Former striker Dimitar Berbatov anticipates that Gyokeres will make a move to Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window.
During a segment on TNT Sports, both Ferdinand and Keown shared a similar perspective, highlighting the connection between Gyokeres and Amorim.
“If he wants to win, he goes to Manchester United. Just kidding. The important factor is that he knows the manager [Amorim],” Ferdinand remarked.
- “Moving to a new league with someone familiar with your style can help you excel, especially in a rebuilding phase where you could become a key player… he must be excited about that.”
Sporting CP has set a £67 million valuation on Gyokeres, which may attract interest from clubs like Arsenal in the summer.
Keown echoed Ferdinand’s sentiments, predicting that Gyokeres is likely to follow Amorim to Old Trafford.
If you believe that he is currently performing at his peak level of football thanks to the guidance of Amorim, it’s important to note that Amorim has moved on.
This raises questions about whether he can maintain that form, and if he struggles, he may be inclined to follow Amorim to Manchester United, Keown remarked.

Manchester United may soon find themselves in search of a new striker, as summer acquisition Joshua Zirkzee has attracted interest from Juventus ahead of the January transfer window.
While it is not expected that United will agree to his departure at this time, it highlights the challenging circumstances the Red Devils are facing in their attacking lineup.
However, their new manager, Amorim, has a proven track record of maximizing Gyokeres’ potential, as evidenced by his impressive performances during their time together in Lisbon.
Troy Deeney has expressed the opinion that Kai Havertz surpasses Gyokeres, but the statistics from Gyokeres’ time under Amorim suggest a different narrative.
