Szoboszlai probably thought the final whistle would be the end of the night… not even close

Brawl between Ukraine and Hungary players
Liverpool teammates Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez found themselves at the centre of a heated confrontation during Hungary’s 1-0 defeat to Ukraine, with both players becoming involved in an ugly late brawl.

The incident came after Ukraine were reduced to 10 men, with tensions quickly boiling over between the two sides. What initially looked like a confrontation between Viktor Tsyhankov and Szoboszlai soon turned into a much bigger argument involving several players.

Tsyhankov, who is not usually associated with this kind of confrontation, appeared particularly eager to get face-to-face with Szoboszlai. The Ukraine winger moved towards the Hungary captain, only for Kerkez to step in aggressively and prevent the two from coming together.

 

That intervention only seemed to make things worse.

Mykola Matviyenko then came across to support his Ukraine teammate, with the defender getting involved as Kerkez and Tsyhankov continued their heated exchange. Within seconds, players from both teams were surrounding the situation as tempers flared.

 

 

 

The four players at the centre of it all were eventually shown yellow cards. Szoboszlai, Tsyhankov, Kerkez and Matviyenko were all booked in the 90+4th minute.
