‘At this moment in time’: Gary Neville has made his prediction for the Premier League winner, between Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City…
Gary Neville has consistently supported Arsenal as the favorites to win the Premier League since the season began, but recent performances have put that belief to the test.
The Gunners have struggled in recent matches, suffering another defeat this weekend against Newcastle, which has further exacerbated their difficulties.
Mikel Arteta is acutely aware that his team cannot afford to lose more points.
They received a stroke of luck this weekend when Bournemouth triumphed over Manchester City, keeping the gap between the top and fourth place at seven points.
Despite this, Arsenal finds themselves in a challenging position, needing to make significant gains, especially with Liverpool currently leading the table.
Nevertheless, Gary Neville remains optimistic about Arsenal’s chances.
In the latest episode of his podcast, Neville discussed the title race, acknowledging Liverpool’s current dominance and Arsenal’s recent struggles.
However, he still believes in Arsenal’s potential, suggesting that this weekend’s events could serve as a turning point for them.
“I don’t believe Arsenal are out of the title race; I don’t see this as a definitive setback for them,” Neville stated.
It may seem overly optimistic, and I could find myself regretting this perspective in three months, but perhaps this is exactly what the team needs to embark on a significant winning streak and ultimately secure a league title.
They are likely observing Liverpool and City, recognizing that neither is as formidable as they were a few years ago. This presents a substantial opportunity. It’s time for action.
He further stated, “Currently, there are significant uncertainties surrounding Arsenal, yet I still believe they have a chance to clinch the title. This situation might be the catalyst they require to achieve that goal.”
Arsenal must avoid further losses for the foreseeable future. The Gunners have benefited this season, as Neville pointed out, from the fact that both Manchester City and Liverpool are not performing at their previous levels.
City has already experienced two losses and a draw this season, while Liverpool suffered a surprising defeat at home to Nottingham Forest, indicating vulnerabilities.
However, Arsenal now finds itself in a precarious situation with two losses and three draws, which could prove detrimental.
In essence, Arsenal cannot afford to drop any points until the new year. Realistically, Liverpool and City are likely to continue their winning ways, and another loss for Arsenal could spell the end of their title hopes.
As Neville suggests, this could serve as the motivation they need. Yet, at this moment, his prediction for the title seems quite distant.
