Newcastle United’s William Osula is expected to be out for a significant duration following a setback in August.

Newcastle United injury setback

On August 23rd, Matthias Jaissle included the 23-year-old in his first competitive match during the Magpies’ 2-2 draw against Liverpool at St James’ Park.

His choice quickly proved beneficial as William Osula assisted Anthony Elanga’s opening goal in the fifth minute.

Joe Willock substituted him in the 56th minute. The Denmark international, who sustained a foot injury against the Reds, had initially continued playing before being withdrawn in the second half. He experienced a ‘poor start to the season’.

The injury setback has caused him to miss the Premier League team’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Neither Jaissle nor his team has provided a timeline for the attacker’s return to the field.

Newcastle player uncertain for international break

Viaplay now reports that William Osula has been ‘wearing a splint’ since sustaining the injury against Liverpool over two weeks ago.

Their sources indicate that the Dane will be ‘out for an extended period’.

There is no mention of a return date, while the report’s headline suggests William Osula may miss the upcoming international break. Within the report, it is stated that he is doubtful about representing the national team in the near future.

If the Dane is unable to participate, he will not return to action with Newcastle United until at least next month. The English club is set to face Coventry City on October 13th, following the international break.

Before that, the Magpies have four matches lined up against AFC Bournemouth, Millwall [EFL Cup], Leeds United, and Hull City this month. If Viaplay’s report holds true, Osula is likely to miss these games.
