Arsenal in ‘pole position’ to sign Bundesliga striker, claims agent…

Arsenal is reportedly in a ‘favorable position’ to acquire a Bundesliga striker, as stated by the player’s agent.

Mikel Arteta has previously suggested that he aims to further enhance his squad before the transfer window closes.

According to the player’s representative, Arsenal has a ‘genuine’ interest in Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane, and discussions have occurred between the two clubs regarding the 20-year-old.

The Cameroon international made 44 appearances for the Bundesliga team last season, including both legs of their Champions League last-16 match against Mikel Arteta’s side.

He concluded the season with seven goals in his debut year in top-flight football, having transitioned from Spanish Segunda Division club Albacete a year prior.

“Yes, Arsenal’s interest is authentic,” agent Eric Depolo told the Daily Arsenal website. “The manager is very fond of him.

“It’s too early to determine (Kofane’s next move), but considering the player speaks Spanish, like Mikel Arteta, and that William Saliba has Cameroonian roots, I would say Arsenal is in a prime position.

“There is communication between me and Arsenal. However, their current priority is to win the league. From that point, everything will begin to progress.”

This week, Arteta mentioned that Arsenal is keen to make additional signings this summer, having already brought in Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis and Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes.

When asked if fans should expect more signings in the upcoming months, Arteta responded: “That’s what we’re aiming to do.

“If we find the right player in the market who can significantly improve us, we are very eager to pursue that.”

Kofane, who netted twice for Cameroon during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco last season, previously expressed to German outlet Kicker that he would be open to a Premier League move.

“I can definitely see myself there, yes. It’s one of the top leagues in the world,” he stated. “But I want to take it one step at a time. I’m young and still have significant ambitions with Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayer Leverkusen is an excellent club that has provided me with a wonderful opportunity and a significant boost in confidence. I feel very at home here.

After investing over £100 million this transfer window, Arsenal may need to sell players before they can make any additional signings.
