“Total agreement closer than ever” – Sky reports Liverpool target set to finalize transfer “this week”

Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sports Germany has shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Los Blancos are now closer to achieving a “total agreement” than ever after the latest negotiations.

The Ivorian player had been strongly linked to a move to Liverpool and PSG before being swayed by the opportunity to join the Bernabeu.

The Yan Diomande transfer saga is approaching its conclusion.

We can’t help but feel a bit disappointed that Jose Mourinho’s team seems ready to secure a hard-fought victory for Diomande’s signature.

With the right-sided Mbaye (albeit right-footed) also believed to have attracted attention at the AXA training center, Liverpool still finds itself in a favorable position on both wings.

This might actually be for the best for Liverpool.

It’s important to note that Liverpool has not helped their cause with their significant decline in form during the 2025/26 season.

However, there may still be lingering concerns about Yan Diomande’s commitment, considering how swiftly he has changed his allegiance among Liverpool, PSG, and Real Madrid within a year.

Could we have faced the risk of another transfer saga in a year or two if either PSG or Madrid developed an interest in the Ivory Coast international? Quite possibly.

Of course, this is a risk associated with any elite (or potentially elite) footballer.

However, we consider it a missed opportunity that we can accept – as long as Liverpool successfully finalizes deals for Mbaye and Barcola this summer.

Additionally, securing a backup for Alexander Isak would also be beneficial.
