Report: Liverpool contemplating late acquisition of winger potentially valued at £51m.

While new manager Arne Slot expresses satisfaction with his current squad, he is eager to enhance the team as he navigates a transitional phase following Jurgen Klopp’s departure over the summer.

Liverpool commenced their Premier League campaign with an impressive 2-0 victory against newly promoted Ipswich Town.

Goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah marked a successful beginning to Slot’s tenure at the club.

The focus has now shifted to transfer activities, with the club exploring the possibility of a late bid for a player with ties to their fierce rivals, Everton.

As reported by TBR Football, Liverpool is considering a surprising move to acquire Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman.

The 26-year-old Nigerian winger was part of Everton’s roster from 2017 to 2019 but struggled to make an impact at Goodison Park, leading to his transfer to the Bundesliga to join RB Leipzig in 2019.

In the summer of 2022, he signed with Atalanta, an Italian club where he has showcased the finest form of his career, catching the attention of several teams with his outstanding performances.

Liverpool is among the clubs monitoring his situation and is prepared to bring him to Anfield to enhance Slot’s attacking lineup.

The winger was absent from Atalanta’s opening match of the season due to uncertainties surrounding his future, primarily linked to interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Both Liverpool and PSG are keen on acquiring Ademola Lookman.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City have all shown interest in the Nigerian winger, but Liverpool appears to have the most significant interest, according to reports.

Last season, he netted 17 goals for the Italian side across all competitions, playing a crucial role in their Europa League victory by scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen, managed by Xabi Alonso.

Calciomercato has indicated that Atalanta is likely to seek €60m (£51m) for the former Everton player.

His addition would provide both depth and quality to Liverpool’s attack, and the aforementioned fee should not pose a problem for the Reds.

Having not made any signings this summer, they are financially positioned to secure the Serie A talent.
