Arsenal Engages in Discussions for Striker Considered ‘One of the Best in World Football’
Arsenal has initiated contact regarding a €75 million striker.
The team has faced a decline in performance, resulting in a loss of momentum in their pursuit of the Premier League title.
With the January transfer window approaching, Arsenal is likely to seek reinforcements to revive their championship aspirations.
Throughout the summer, Arsenal was linked with acquiring a new striker but ultimately did not secure any new talent to lead their attack.
Recent reports from Turkey indicate that Arsenal is in negotiations with the parent club of a forward previously regarded as “one of the very best players in world football.”
Arsenal is in discussions with Napoli concerning Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker has established himself as one of the top forwards globally in recent years.
As reported by Sabah, Arsenal is ‘in contact’ with Napoli about the player, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, alongside Premier League competitors Chelsea and Newcastle United.
In addition to Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle, clubs such as Fenerbahce and Al-Hilal are also interested in Osimhen.
Reports suggest that Arsenal has reached out to Napoli regarding the potential acquisition of Victor Osimhen, as they contemplate enhancing their attacking lineup for the upcoming transfer window.
The Gunners are among several clubs monitoring the prolific striker, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray and has been delivering impressive performances.
According to the Turkish outlet Sabah, Mario Branco, Fenerbahce’s sporting director, recently contacted Giovanni Manna, Napoli’s sporting director, to discuss the terms of a possible transfer.
During this conversation, Manna reportedly quoted a fee of €75 million (£64.5 million) for Osimhen, stating, “We will engage with the club that offers €25 million (£21.5 million) upfront.”
This establishes a challenging standard for any potential buyers aiming to acquire Osimhen, effectively eliminating any Turkish clubs from consideration.
Currently on loan at Galatasaray until the season concludes, Osimhen has made nine appearances for the Turkish club, netting eight goals and providing four assists.
Fenerbahce has expressed considerable interest in Osimhen, but Arsenal remains a contender alongside Newcastle United and Chelsea. Additionally, Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia has reportedly joined the pursuit of the Nigerian forward, intensifying the competition for this sought-after player.
Osimhen has previously stated his satisfaction at Galatasaray and his desire to complete his loan period; however, Napoli is open to negotiations if their financial expectations are met.
Arsenal must act swiftly if they intend to outmaneuver their competitors for one of Europe’s most promising strikers, as Napoli’s requirements are already established: a significant upfront fee will be crucial to initiate talks.
Mikel Arteta is believed to be eager to enhance Arsenal’s attacking options, and Osimhen, with his combination of strength, speed, and proven goal-scoring ability, aligns with the type of striker they are targeting.
Nevertheless, any potential transfer would necessitate a considerable financial investment, given Napoli’s position on the matter.
