Arsenal is prepared to make a significant effort to acquire a ‘world-class’ player following the departure of Smith Rowe.

Arsenal ready to make a bold move to secure the signing of a top-tier talent following Smith Rowe’s exit.

Arsenal is reportedly eager to secure the services of a top player from Real Sociedad, as per Mundo Deportivo (Gipuzkoa edition).

The Gunners have set their sights on Mikel Merino as their primary midfield target, with reports suggesting a verbal offer of £26 million has been made to Sociedad.

Despite this, Mundo Deportivo states that no official bid has been submitted.

Arsenal is said to be ‘ready to go all out’ in their pursuit of the Spanish international, although Sociedad is yet to receive any formal offers.

Atletico Madrid is the sole club that has submitted an offer, but Merino has declined their approach.

Arsenal is poised to secure Merino’s signature in the near future. The Gunners have reached an agreement on personal terms with the Spanish player for a long-term contract.

A transfer is likely to happen soon, especially since Sociedad has acquired a replacement.

The La Liga team has announced the signing of Luka Susic from Red Bull Salzburg. Susic, a left-footed central midfielder, is expected to take over Merino’s role.

Arsenal typically prefers to finalize one transfer at a time. They have just confirmed Emile Smith Rowe’s transfer to Fulham and may now accelerate their efforts to sign Merino.

Merino, praised as ‘world-class’ by Kieran Tierney, would be an excellent addition due to his strong defensive abilities and creative play in midfield.

The La Liga standout averaged an impressive 10.2 duels won, 6.2 recoveries, and 2.4 tackles per game last season, in addition to nearly two clearances per match.

Furthermore, he showcased his attacking prowess with 13 goal contributions. With his well-rounded skill set, he could prove to be a valuable signing for manager Mikel Arteta.
