Arsenal XI vs Sporting: Expected lineup, confirmed team updates, latest injury news for today’s Champions League match.

Arsenal arrives in Lisbon with a sense of urgency and uncertainty influencing their Champions League quarter-final. The anticipated lineup for the encounter with Sporting showcases both necessity and opportunity, as key players return while others are notably absent.

The Gunners aim to overcome consecutive cup defeats.

Declan Rice is poised to provide Arsenal with a significant advantage for tonight’s Champions League quarter-final against Sporting.

The Gunners are in Portugal on Tuesday evening for the first leg of their last-eight matchup, seeking to recover from back-to-back losses.

Rice was absent during the second of those defeats, a surprising loss to Southampton at St Mary’s, but he participated in training on Monday and is expected to rejoin the Arsenal squad.

Mikel Arteta also confirmed that Gabriel is fit to play despite a recent injury scare over the weekend.

The Brazilian was substituted in the second half against Southampton and had ice applied to his knee immediately after.

However, he has since recovered and is anticipated to start alongside William Saliba in central defense.

Arsenal will miss Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber, as neither player has traveled to Portugal.

“They haven’t traveled yet,” Arteta mentioned.

“Let’s see, hopefully, they will be ready for the weekend if everything goes well.

“That’s a significant boost because we have lost so many key players in recent days, and that is something we need to rectify immediately.”

Cristhian Mosquera may be selected at right-back in Timber’s absence, while Riccardo Calafiori is likely to join the team with Piero Hincapie still sidelined.

With Saka unavailable, Noni Madueke is expected to be the preferred choice on the right flank, although Max Dowman’s recent form could lead Arteta to give him some playing time during the match.

Viktor Gyokeres is almost certain to spearhead the attack against his former team. He has netted five goals in his last three outings for both club and country.

Projected Arsenal Starting XI: Raya; Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Zubimendi, Rice; Madueke, Odegaard, Trossard; Gyokeres
