Arsenal XI vs Southampton: Expected lineup, confirmed team updates, latest injury news for today’s FA Cup match.

Timber, Lewis-Skelly, and Norgaard Set to Start | 4-2-3-1 Predicted Arsenal Lineup Against Southampton

Mikel Arteta plans to deploy his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is likely to implement several changes to his starting XI. Jurrien Timber, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Christian Norgaard are all anticipated to begin this match.

Max Dowman is poised for a starting role following international withdrawals.

Martin Odegaard may make his return to Arsenal for the FA Cup clash against Southampton, with Max Dowman also expected to start.

The Gunners are set to face the Championship team with a spot in the semi-finals and a quick return to Wembley at stake.

Odegaard has been sidelined since February 22 due to a knee injury but has recovered and is likely to be included in the squad at St Mary’s.

Mikel Arteta confirmed that Jurrien Timber, who has been absent for the last two matches due to a groin injury, might also return.

Noni Madueke is out after sustaining an injury while on international duty with England, but he is not expected to be out for an extended period.

“It looked really bad,” Arteta remarked.

“Noni was quite concerned, especially considering what happened to his other knee a few weeks ago, which kept him out for six weeks. However, this injury is not nearly as severe. That’s very encouraging news.”

When asked if Madueke could be back in a matter of days, Arteta replied: “I believe so.”

Eberechi Eze and Piero Hincapie have also been ruled out for the match against Southampton.

Arsenal had six additional players withdraw from international duty, although most of these were due to managing ongoing issues rather than any major setbacks.

Arteta simply stated “let’s see” when questioned about the availability of those players, but it is expected that Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka will all be rested.

Dowman is vying for a position on the right wing. This would mark the 16-year-old’s first match since he helped Arsenal secure a win from the bench against Everton.

Christian Norgaard and Gabriel Jesus are expected to see limited playing time, while Kepa Arrizabalaga is anticipated to retain his spot despite a significant error in the Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City.

Predicted Arsenal XI: Kepa; White, Mosquera, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Norgaard, Odegaard, Havertz; Dowman, Jesus, Martinelli

Injured: Eze, Hincapie, Madueke, Merino

Doubts: Odegaard, Timber, Gabriel, Saliba, Rice, Zubimendi, Saka, Trossard

Time and date: 8pm BST on Saturday, April 4, 2026

Venue: St Mary’s Stadium
