Jurrien Timber breaks cover after injury scare for Arsenal star…
Jurrien Timber emerges from injury concerns for Arsenal star
Jurrien Timber emerges from injury concerns for Arsenal star ahead of a vital match against Leverkusen.
Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber had to leave the field on Saturday during the game against Everton after sustaining an injury in the first half at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal full-back Jurrien Timber expressed his joy at Max Dowman’s first Premier League goal during the win over Everton, following an earlier injury scare he experienced in the match.
Timber had to exit the pitch against the Toffees after struggling with a leg problem. He collided with Iliman Ndiaye midway through the first half.
Despite his efforts to continue playing, he had to be substituted in the 37th minute, with Cristhian Mosquera taking his place.
At that moment, the score was still 0-0, and it remained that way until the 89th minute when Viktor Gyokeres finally scored to give Arsenal the lead from close range.
The Gunners aimed to maintain their lead deep into extra time when substitute Max Dowman initiated a counter-attack, sprinting nearly the entire length of the pitch to score and secure a 2-0 victory, earning all three points for Mikel Arteta’s team.
After the match, Dowman shared his thoughts on social media. Timber reposted that message on his Instagram story, adding a red heart emoji—this was the only post from the full-back since his injury scare.
Arteta was not questioned about Timber’s status after the match, leaving the defender’s availability uncertain for several important upcoming fixtures across four different competitions.
Arsenal faces a quick turnaround as they return to the pitch on Tuesday night for the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 matchup against Bayer Leverkusen.
Kai Havertz’s penalty in the 89th minute of the first leg means the aggregate score is tied at 1-1 heading into the game.
Following the Leverkusen match, Arsenal will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, March 22 (4.30pm kick-off).
Following the international break, the Gunners will head to face Championship team Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-final.
Subsequently, they will return to Premier League play on Saturday, April 11, when Arsenal welcomes Bournemouth (kick-off at 12.30pm). This will be succeeded by another encounter with City, this time in the Premier League.
