The club is willing to invest a substantial amount, ranging from £50m to £60m, to secure the player’s services. However, the club’s demands for a higher fee are currently causing negotiations to stall.

Arsenal interested in Viktor Gyokeres as alternative to Benjamin Sesko

According to a report from The Sun, Arsenal are considering a move for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres as an alternative to RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

The Gunners had initially targeted Sesko, but the player recently announced his decision to stay with his current club for another season.

As a result, Arsenal have turned their attention to Gyokeres. However, securing the Swedish forward’s services won’t come cheap.

The report states that Gyokeres has an £85 million release clause, and Sporting Lisbon are adamant about receiving a fee close to that amount.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are hoping to negotiate a deal in the range of £50 to £60 million. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can reach a compromise and strike a deal for Gyokeres.

According to the report, the Portuguese giants are willing to generate funds, but they are not compelled to sell Gyokeres at a low price. They have the option to sell other players in the team, such as Ousmane Diamonde and Gonzalo Inacio.

Mikel Arteta’s team, however, has not initiated any substantial discussions with Sporting Lisbon or Gyokeres’ representatives.

As a result, they are encountering further obstacles in their quest for a striker.

It is improbable that Arsenal will invest £85m in Gyokeres.

After abandoning the pursuit of Victor Osimhen due to a £110 million release clause, it is likely that Arsenal will halt their interest in Gyokeres as well, given the high price tag exceeding their budget.

Despite the transfer window still having a long way to go, Arsenal’s choices for the striker position have already been limited with the signing of Joshua Zirkzee for £34 million appearing to be the most feasible option.

Arsenal may have an edge in the competition for the Bologna striker due to the friendship between Kia Joorabchian, his agent, and Edu, Arsenal’s sporting director.
