Liverpool Target Serie A Star as First Signing Under Arne Slot’s Leadership. – Report..
Liverpool is considering a Serie A star as their initial signing under Arne Slot’s management.
As the Jurgen Klopp era at Liverpool nears its end, the club is now gearing up for the arrival of a new manager in the upcoming weeks.
Although there hasn’t been an official announcement regarding Klopp’s successor, it is widely speculated that Arne Slot will be appointed as the next head coach at Anfield.
The Dutchman has built an impressive reputation during his tenure at both AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, and he is set to take charge of the latter for the final time this weekend. In recent weeks, he has publicly hinted at taking on the Liverpool job next season.
Michael Edwards, the mastermind behind Liverpool’s transfer dealings, has undoubtedly already identified a plethora of potential targets behind the scenes at Anfield.
Amongst these prospects, one player stands out as a priority for the club in the upcoming months, and it’s no secret that Slot is well aware of his talents.
According to Tuttosport, Liverpool has set their sights on Teun Koopmeiners, the talented midfielder from Atalanta in Serie A, as their first signing under the Arne Slot era.
The Merseyside club had the opportunity to closely observe the Dutchman during the recent Europa League clash between the two teams, where Atalanta emerged victorious with a 3-1 aggregate score over two legs.
Koopmeiners showcased his skills by playing the full 90 minutes in both fixtures, leaving a lasting impression on Liverpool’s scouting team.
A well-known creative midfielder, aged 26, has a strong connection with Liverpool’s upcoming manager.
Arne Slot, who previously coached the player at AZ Alkmaar, is familiar with his abilities. It has been suggested that Atalanta may demand a fee of up to €70 million for the sale of Teun Koopmeiners this summer.
Notably, other clubs such as Juventus, Manchester United, and Newcastle United have also shown interest in acquiring his services.
Considering Slot’s tactical approach, it would be logical for Liverpool to consider bringing in a player who is familiar with his style. However, the club will not sign one of his former players solely for the sake of it.
