Bayern Munich is reportedly ‘in discussions’ with a Liverpool player as the Reds consider a move for Newcastle star Alexander Isak.

Liverpool may need to look for a new centre-back next summer due to Bayern Munich’s interest in one of their key players.

The Reds could experience significant changes in their squad during the upcoming transfer windows, even after spending over £400 million this summer.

One position that the Anfield club needs to bolster is the core of their defense. Captain Virgil van Dijk has 18 months left on his contract, while Ibrahima Konate’s contract expires this summer, and there is currently no agreement for an extension.

The French defender has been rumored to be moving to Real Madrid, but recent reports suggest that the Spanish club has prioritized Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano as their main target. Upamecano is also out of contract and will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Bayern Munich is in discussions with Ibrahima Konate.

In light of Madrid’s interest in Upamecano, Bild’s deputy football editor Tobi Altschäffl has reported that the Bundesliga club is now in talks with Ibrahima Konate’s representatives. This information was shared in a podcast by the German newspaper.

Altschäffl stated on the BILD podcast “Bayern-Insider”: “We can confirm this as breaking news: FC Bayern is in discussions with Ibrahima Konaté’s management.”

He added: “His contract is nearing its end, and Bayern could acquire him on a free transfer. We have learned that Konaté’s agent is in negotiations with Real Madrid, PSG, and Bayern. He is a highly sought-after player in the market, and Bayern is showing interest.”

Liverpool has presented a new contract proposal to Konate, but the Frenchman is seeking a higher base salary rather than one that relies heavily on bonuses. Although the defender had a rocky start to the season, he has begun to regain his form.

Liverpool is considering a move for Newcastle United defender Sven Botman.

As reported by Caught Offside, Liverpool is still keen on a possible transfer for Newcastle United defender Sven Botman. The club has been closely observing the Dutch player, but the Magpies are anticipated to initiate contract discussions with the former Lille defender.

Newcastle aims to do everything possible to retain Botman, as Chelsea is another Premier League competitor showing interest in the player. The Magpies have recently appointed a new sporting director, whose main goal is to secure Botman with a longer contract.

Alexander Isak transferred to Newcastle from Liverpool for a record fee of £125m during the summer. The Swedish international referred to Botman as his best friend in football while he was still with the Magpies.

He stated: “I’d probably say Sven Botman. He sits next to me in the locker room. He’s a great guy. We spend a lot of time together.”

Should the Reds lose Konate next summer, they will likely need to recruit two new central defenders, with a transfer for Marc Guehi expected to proceed after he reportedly committed to joining Liverpool.
