BREAKING NEWS: Arsene Wenger says Arne Slot ‘destroyed’ Liverpool team with one transfer…

Arsene Wenger claims that Arne Slot has ‘destroyed’ the Liverpool team with a single transfer.

Wenger asserts that Arne Slot ‘destroyed’ his Liverpool squad with one transfer deal during the summer.

Despite clinching the Premier League title last season, Liverpool opted to invest over £400 million in new players during the summer transfer window.

Slot seems to have built one of the most formidable squads in history, a team poised to dominate both domestically and in Europe.

However, the reigning champions faced a dismal start to the season, suffering six losses across all competitions, which left them seven points adrift of the new title contenders, Arsenal.

At least it seems Liverpool has turned a corner, breaking a four-game losing streak with a victory against Aston Villa over the weekend, followed by a win against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

It remains uncertain whether Liverpool can compete at the level required for the Premier League or Champions League, but Wenger has raised concerns about the choice to disrupt a title-winning midfield by signing Florian Wirtz.

Liverpool finalized a club-record £116 million transfer for Wirtz in the summer, yet the former Bayer Leverkusen star has had a lackluster start to his career at Anfield.

Wirtz was left on the bench for Saturday’s victory over Aston Villa before returning to the starting lineup for the match against Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

‘Liverpool is an intriguing case,’ said the legendary former Arsenal manager Wenger on beIN SPORTS prior to Liverpool’s match against Madrid.

‘When Wirtz had the option to join Bayern Munich or Liverpool, he told Liverpool, “I will join you if I play as a No.10; I do not want to play on the wing.” Liverpool agreed to his terms.

‘As a result, they started him, which disrupted their midfield because their midfield consisted of [Ryan] Gravenberch, [Alexis] Mac Allister, and [Dominik] Szoboszlai; to accommodate Wirtz, they removed Szoboszlai from the lineup.

‘What did they do against Aston Villa? They reverted to their usual midfield from last year.

‘This evening [against Real Madrid], they will feature Wirtz, but I believe he will be positioned on the flank since the manager has stated, “if you wish to play again, you must play wide as I do not want to disrupt the midfield.”

‘It will be intriguing to observe, but he will definitely need to play on the left, similar to his role at Leverkusen.’

Slot expressed he was ‘very pleased’ with Liverpool’s victory over Real Madrid, noting that his team delivered a ‘great performance.’

‘Very pleased. We’ve had [some] challenging weeks, with numerous away matches and hardly any time to rest between each game,’ the Anfield manager remarked.

‘Once again, we only had two days to prepare for this match, but the same was true for Real Madrid.

‘Playing in front of these supporters and against Real Madrid certainly elevates my players’ performance and energizes our fans.

‘A fantastic performance against a team that has only suffered one defeat all season. Perhaps it could have been even more.’

Liverpool’s recent revival will face a significant challenge this weekend as they go up against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in a crucial Premier League encounter.
