Arsenal is prepared to allow the departure of their £45 million star in January.

Arsenal ready to sanction departure of £45m star in January.

Following the acquisition of eight first-team players during the summer, Arsenal is open to selling their £45 million star in the forthcoming January transfer window.

Reports suggest that Arsenal is willing to sell forward Gabriel Jesus in the upcoming January transfer window, which could signify the conclusion of the Brazilian’s injury-plagued tenure at the Emirates Stadium.

The 28-year-old striker joined the Gunners from Manchester City in July 2022 for £45 million, reuniting with former City assistant Mikel Arteta, who considered him the crucial element in Arsenal’s title ambitions.

However, ongoing injury issues and a drop in performance have limited his contributions.

A significant knee injury sustained in January 2025 necessitated surgery and sidelined Jesus for the majority of the year.

He is anticipated to return by the end of the year but may find it challenging to regain a starting position after being excluded from Arsenal’s Champions League squad in September, as Arteta preferred Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz as his main attacking choices.

Now that he has returned to full fitness, Jesus’s future remains uncertain. According to Mail Online, Arsenal is willing to entertain offers around the £45 million mark, the same amount they paid Manchester City three years ago, as they aim to rejuvenate the squad and reinvest in other positions.

Interest in the adaptable forward is already increasing. Brazilian clubs Flamengo and Palmeiras are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation, eager to bring the former Palmeiras academy graduate back to Brazil.

Additionally, Everton is said to be preparing a January bid, viewing Jesus as a perfect enhancement to strengthen their attack.

The potential sale would continue Arsenal’s recent trend of trimming their squad.

Prior to the new season, the club approved the departures of Nuno Tavares, Marquinhos, and Albert Sambi Lokonga, while several fringe players, including Jakub Kiwior, Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Fabio Vieira, were loaned out to ensure they receive regular playing time.

Should Arsenal decide to part ways with Jesus, it would mark the end of a chapter that started with great optimism but ultimately fell short of expectations, highlighting the club’s willingness to once again adapt their attacking strategy.
