Report: Crystal Palace has made a crucial advancement in ensuring that Marc Guehi can join Liverpool today.

Marc Guehi played a pivotal role in leading his Crystal Palace team to an impressive 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday evening.

He even scored the Eagles’ second goal of the match with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box.

Since the opening of the summer transfer window, Guehi’s future has been uncertain due to the fact that he has only 12 months remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park.

As we approach the final 12 hours of the transfer window, it appears that things are finally aligning for his transfer to Liverpool.

Crystal Palace is reportedly ‘considering’ a move for Axel Disasi this summer.

One of the primary reasons Steve Parish has not yet sold the Englishman is the absence of a replacement.

Palace’s squad depth is already quite limited, and selling the centre-back without a reliable replacement could jeopardize their aspirations for the 2025-26 Premier League season.

Indeed, no new signing will match the quality of their captain, but according to a recent report from Sky Sports, they are exploring various options, including Chelsea’s Axel Disasi.

The report indicates that Oliver Glasner’s team is now ‘considering’ a transfer for the French player as they ‘continue to work’ on finding a replacement for Guehi.

Sky Sports also mentioned that Glasner confirmed the centre-back would only be sold if a suitable replacement is secured this summer.

Liverpool must secure Marc Guehi before the transfer window closes.

Despite Ibrahima Konate delivering a relatively strong performance against Arsenal on Sunday evening, his earlier appearances this season cannot be overlooked.

The centre-back was a significant factor in the number of goals conceded, as the former RB Leipzig player struggled to keep up with the pace.

While Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni are both viable alternatives to Konate this season, it is evident that a transfer fee in the range of £35million-£40million represents a bargain for Guehi.

Currently, the captain of Crystal Palace is arguably the finest centre-back in England, and his addition would certainly provide Konate with some competition for the starting position alongside Virgil van Dijk.

At this point, predicting the outcome is challenging, but given the developments throughout the transfer window so far, it is difficult to understand why Guehi would not join Liverpool by 7 pm on Monday.
