Liverpool ‘confident’ of completing Isak deal with ‘agreements reached’ over £185m double deal…
Liverpool is ‘confident’ about finalizing the deal for Isak, with ‘agreements reached’ regarding a £185m double transfer.
The club is now ‘confident’ that they will complete the signing of Alexander Isak, as the Reds are ‘prepared to finalize’ the transfers for both the Newcastle forward and Marc Guehi, according to reports.
Liverpool has made several high-profile acquisitions this summer, including Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, and Giovanni Leoni, totaling seven signings thus far.
However, the club is optimistic about adding two more players to their roster before the transfer window closes, with both deals having been in the works for some time.
Isak, the Newcastle striker, and Guehi, the Crystal Palace centre-back, have been linked to Liverpool throughout the summer, and the combined cost of these transfers could reach approximately £185m.
Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Germany, has disclosed that Liverpool is ‘prepared to finalize the transfers’ of Isak and Guehi, with ‘agreements’ already established regarding personal terms with both athletes.
Plettenberg stated on X: ‘Liverpool is set to finalize the transfers of Alexander #Isak and Marc #Guehi by Deadline Day. Agreements have been made with both players. The primary concern is that their current clubs must find suitable replacements. #LFC is waiting patiently.’
Furthermore, Football Insider reports that Liverpool is ‘increasingly confident’ about securing Isak before the transfer deadline, as they have been ‘in daily communication with Isak’s camp to finalize the deal.’
The report further notes: ‘Sources close to Liverpool have informed Football Insider that there is a strong belief within the club that they can achieve a complete agreement with Newcastle by the 7pm deadline on September 1.
‘They are expected to return with a revised second bid that will feature “significant adjustments” to the add-ons proposed in the initial offer.
In an interview with DAZN on Tuesday, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano disclosed that discussions have resumed between Liverpool and Newcastle regarding a possible transfer deal.
When questioned about Newcastle’s attempts to retain Isak, Romano stated: “They’ve been making efforts for months. Initially through calls, then by sending new contract offers, and now with this direct face-to-face meeting with the player.
“Newcastle is doing everything possible to persuade him to stay for another season, potentially allowing him to leave in 2026. However, from the player’s perspective, as far as I know, his stance remains unchanged.
“Even during this meeting with key figures from Newcastle’s board, the message conveyed by the player and his agents was, ‘thank you, but I wish to go to Liverpool.’
“Isak is steadfast in his decision. Naturally, Liverpool cannot wait indefinitely; they have already spent over a month awaiting the green light for this transfer to proceed.
Currently, there is still no confirmation from Newcastle, but Liverpool will continue to press. I believe there will be further discussions tonight or tomorrow; we will see what unfolds.
“Liverpool is not altering their target; they are focused on acquiring Alexander Isak.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Romano mentioned on his YouTube channel: “We are in critical hours now. Time is of the essence, so they need to reach a resolution – Liverpool, Newcastle, and the player’s side.
As of today (Tuesday) at lunchtime, Isak is still striving to join Liverpool, and he remains resolute in his desire for the transfer to materialize.
“Thus, Isak is advocating for the move, while Liverpool is awaiting Newcastle’s response. What is happening on Newcastle’s end? Newcastle is still negotiating with Wolves for Jorgen Strand Larsen.
“He signed an extension to his contract earlier this summer, and Wolves have already rejected a £50m offer from Newcastle in the past 24 hours.
“Nevertheless, they are still pursuing this. Newcastle is hopeful and is working to establish a deal for Larsen to join the club as their new striker.
Negotiations are currently in progress for Larsen’s transfer to Newcastle, but it is proving difficult as Wolves have made it clear they do not intend to sell the player. Nevertheless, the deal for Larsen to join Newcastle is still on the table.
Romano further stated: “It’s important to remember that they are in need of two strikers, which is why [Yoane] Wissa from Brentford is still a point of discussion.
The player is eager for the move and is prioritizing Newcastle, even with interest from Saudi Arabia. However, they are still awaiting a club-to-club agreement with Brentford.”
