Martinelli benched, €15m star makes comeback | Predicted Arsenal starting XI (4-3-3) against Newcastle United as Mikel Arteta prepares with strategic approach for Newcastle clash…
Mikel Arteta will be seeking a resilient performance from his team in their encounter with the Magpies.
Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from their recent defeat as they prepare to face Newcastle United in tonight’s Premier League match.
The Gunners were left disappointed after a 1-0 loss to Porto in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
It was surprising to see them fail to register a single shot on target, especially considering their impressive goal-scoring form in their previous two away games.
Mikel Arteta will undoubtedly be expecting a strong reaction from his team as they take on the Magpies.
The club is currently enjoying a remarkable five-match winning streak in the league, and a victory in the upcoming match could narrow the gap to league leaders Liverpool to just two points.
There is a possibility that Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey might feature in the matchday squad, although it is uncertain whether they will be in the starting line-up.
The team is expected to line up in a 4-3-3 formation.
David Raya has established himself as the Gunners’ first-choice goalkeeper, but he will be looking to make up for his performance in the previous match where he could have done better to prevent Galeno’s late stoppage time goal.
The defensive line should consist of a familiar back four.
Ben White is likely to start as the right-back, while William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes should form the central defensive partnership.
With Oleksandr Zinchenko being doubtful due to injury, Jakub Kiwior is expected to continue at left-back. Unfortunately, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jurrien Timber are also sidelined with injuries.
In the middle of the field, Arteta must prioritize enhancing defensive stability when facing a spirited Magpies team.
Jorginho, valued at €15 million by Transfermarkt, may return to the starting lineup for the first time since his standout performance against Liverpool.
Following an early booking against Porto, Declan Rice did not perform at his peak. The English midfielder will be aiming for a more composed showing in midfield.
Accompanying the pair in the center of the pitch should be Martin Odegaard. The team captain will continue to push forward during Arsenal’s offensive plays.
Odegaard has been in exceptional form in the last two league matches, contributing to four goals.
Moving further up the field, Bukayo Saka is a guaranteed starter on the right wing. Saka has scored six goals in his last four Premier League appearances.
Leandro Trossard is likely to be chosen ahead of Gabriel Martinelli on the left wing. Trossard has been in excellent form, scoring three goals in his last three league matches.
Martinelli’s lack of experience was evident in his decision-making during stoppage time in Porto, which resulted in the team conceding a late goal.
As a result, Martinelli may be benched for today’s game. However, this could work in his favor as he will be motivated to prove himself when he is brought on in the second half.
