Arsenal is set to make a formal offer of £44m to secure a key target as Arteta aims to finalize his 7th signing.

According to a recent report from Italy, Arsenal is reportedly ready to initiate a formal bid for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.

After moving from Charlton Athletic to Everton, the Nigerian found it challenging to secure consistent playing time at Goodison Park. Consequently, he was loaned to RB Leipzig before making a permanent transfer to the German club in 2019.

Despite this, the forward struggled to demonstrate his abilities in the Bundesliga, leading to loan spells at Fulham and Leicester City over two consecutive seasons, where he failed to make a significant impact.

La Dea ultimately opted to sign him permanently in 2022, and he has since thrived under the management of Gian Piero Gasperini, earning a reputation as one of the top forwards in Serie A currently.

Nevertheless, the player is eager to leave La Dea to advance his career. Inter Milan is reportedly interested in acquiring him but has faced challenges in reaching a preliminary agreement with Atalanta.

As per a recent Italian report (via Football London), Arsenal is prepared to submit a formal proposal of approximately £44m to entice the African player to the Emirates Stadium.

Lookman to Arsenal

However, the player is prioritizing a transfer to the Nerazzurri, which means he is likely to decline any offer from the north London club. Thus, Mikel Arteta’s team will need to find a way to convince him to join if they wish to secure his services.

Lookman is adept at playing as a second striker and in an attacking midfielder position. Additionally, he can provide support on the left wing.

Arsenal is eager to sign a new left-winger before the transfer window closes and has been linked with Anthony Gordon, Rodrygo Goes, and Eberechi Eze, in addition to the Nigerian international.

However, Manchester City is also showing interest in the Brazilian, while it would be quite challenging to persuade Gordon to leave St James’ Park. Eze appears to be a primary target, and Arsenal has been engaged in discussions to sign him.

In the meantime, Arsenal has acquired six new players, investing £200 million this summer to strengthen the squad and assist Arteta in his pursuit of winning the Premier League title.
