Liverpool XI vs Crystal Palace possible £520,000-a-week quartet benched as Florian Wirtz and Rio Ngumoha decisions made…
Liverpool’s lineup against Crystal Palace has been predicted, with decisions made regarding Florian Wirtz and Rio Ngumoha.
The £520,000-a-week quartet has been benched as Slot makes a decision on Ngumoha – Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Predicted XIs.
On Sunday afternoon, Crystal Palace and Liverpool will clash at Wembley Stadium for the Community Shield, both aiming to secure the first piece of silverware for the season.
Oliver Glasner’s team achieved a historic milestone by winning the FA Cup last season, defeating Manchester City, and has managed to retain its squad while adding two new players.
In contrast, Arne Slot has implemented significant changes to his Premier League-winning team.
Both clubs are eager to kick off the new season in the same manner they concluded the previous one, and GIVEMESPORT has provided insights into how the teams are expected to line up for the match.
Liverpool Team News – Manager Arne Slot.
The Reds approach this match following a hectic summer, having brought in Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike during a transformative transfer window.
Meanwhile, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Jarell Quansah have departed, and the club has also faced the heartbreaking loss of forward Diogo Jota.
Slot has confirmed that the team will welcome back Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson Becker, who missed pre-season matches due to recent issues.
However, Joe Gomez will be sidelined with a minor injury, and Conor Bradley remains a doubt. Ryan Gravenberch is available, as his suspension will commence in the opening match of the Premier League season.
Slot Provides Team News Update.
During his pre-match press conference, Slot offered an update on his squad ahead of the upcoming game.
“[Mac Allister] will be included in the squad. He was unavailable for two months, or possibly longer, as we didn’t feature him in the last four matches of the season. He has trained with us for a week now and has played 30 minutes and 45 minutes.
“That’s not a scenario in which you would begin a player and have him on the field for the full 90 minutes. While starting is an option, playing for the entire duration is certainly not feasible.
“Regrettably, Gomez is currently dealing with a minor injury, but he is expected to rejoin the team shortly.”
Liverpool Predicted XI
Liverpool’s Expected Starting XI: Alisson; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo; Ekitike.
Liverpool Expected Substitutes: Mamardashvili (GK), Robertson (DEF), Tsimikas (DEF), Szoboszlai (MID), Endo (MID), Jones (MID), Elliott (FWD), Ngumoha (FWD), Doak (FWD).
With a revamped squad, Slot is poised to make significant decisions regarding his lineup, which may result in the £280,000-a-week pair of Andy Robertson and Dominick Szoboszlai being benched, along with the promising teenager Rio Ngumoha.
Crystal Palace Team News
The Eagles have experienced a relatively uneventful summer transfer window thus far, with only Borna Sosa and Walter Benitez joining the squad. However, the noteworthy aspect is that none of their key players have departed prior to this match.
Glasner will be missing Eddie Nketiah, Cheick Doucoure, Matheus Franca, and Caleb Kporha for the upcoming match due to injuries. Nevertheless, the manager has confirmed that Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi will both be in the starting lineup, with Guehi also serving as captain, despite ongoing speculation regarding their futures.
Glasner Provides Team News Update
In his pre-match press conference, Glasner offered an update on his squad ahead of the match.
“It’s well-known that Eddie Nketiah has missed nearly the entire pre-season. On the second day of pre-season, he sustained a minor injury, and now he is facing a more serious issue that will keep him out for approximately eight weeks.
“Without any pre-season training, I believe it will take him an additional three to four weeks to be match-ready.
“Caleb Kporha is experiencing back issues and has been unable to train, missing the entire pre-season – we are uncertain about his return.
“Unfortunately, Matheus França is injured once more, so he will not be available. He has missed the entire pre-season.”
Cheick [Doucoure] has experienced a setback – we are uncertain about his return date. He is still unable to train, as his knee is reacting poorly, which is particularly challenging for him – he’s such a wonderful person – it’s difficult for him not to be in the training and playing rhythm. He comes in every day, working in the gym and focusing on rehab, only to face another adverse reaction in his knee.
“He has our full support – however, he will not be back for the next few months.
“He [Eze] is set to play on Sunday, without a doubt. Marc [Guehi] will also play – Marc will lead the team as captain.
Crystal Palace Predicted XI
Crystal Palace Predicted XI: Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Lerma, Mitchell; Eze, Mateta, Sarr.
Crystal Palace Predicted Substitutes: Benitez (GK), Clyne (DEF), Sosa (DEF), Riad (DEF), Kamada (MID), Hughes (MID), Devenny (MID), Esse (FWD), Edouard (FWD).
