Liverpool has a clear replacement for Luis Diaz as a potential £65m transfer agreement looms.

The Reds have been encouraged to make significant investments once more in this summer’s transfer window.

A former Liverpool player has informed the club that a ‘fantastic’ alternative for Luis Diaz is available this summer if the Colombian forward transfers to Bayern Munich.

Diaz, 28, is rumored to be leaving Anfield this summer, with only two years remaining on his current contract.

The German club has already seen a £58.5million offer rejected this summer. Nevertheless, discussions are still in progress, with Barcelona seemingly out of contention after choosing to acquire Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United. Currently, both sides seem to be approaching an agreement.

As reported by Bild, both teams are optimistic about concluding a transfer, and Bayern is ready to raise their offer to £65m.

Jermaine Pennant, who represented the Reds in the 2007 Champions League final, has suggested that there is a clear solution to any gap left by Diaz.

“Liverpool is focused on acquiring world-class talent, and if Luis Diaz leaves, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo presents a fantastic option to fill that role,” he stated to Adventure Gamers. “He’s not just a young, untested player.”

The Brazilian international is anticipated to depart the Bernabeu this summer, as he does not fit naturally into Xabi Alonso’s system.

Real Madrid is reportedly seeking £80m for the 24-year-old Champions League victor, a cost that could be mitigated by the sale of Diaz.

Pennant believes that Liverpool fans would be thrilled if he were to take Diaz’s place, adding: “He’s already an experienced and established player, and following his career has been thrilling.

“He’s fast, strong, direct, and very difficult to defend against, and you could argue that he shares a similar profile with Diaz.

It would be a like-for-like substitution, and I can envision the fans fully supporting this transfer if Diaz departs.

Should Liverpool proceed with acquiring the forward for the fee suggested by Real, their total summer expenditure would exceed £300 million.

Additionally, this would position Rodrygo as the second most costly acquisition in their history, following the signing of Florian Wirtz in a transaction that may ultimately reach a value of £116 million.
