Confirmed lineup and team news for Liverpool’s Premier League game against Chelsea at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s squad receives a boost with the return of key players.

Alexis Mac Allister is set to make a comeback, while Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are vying for a starting spot. Liverpool’s impressive form continues, as they comfortably progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a thrilling 5-2 victory over Norwich.

Jurgen Klopp’s team for the Anfield clash against Chelsea will be strengthened by the return of several key players. Alexis Mac Allister is set to make a comeback, while Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also vying for a starting position in the Premier League showdown.

Liverpool’s impressive form continues across all competitions, as they comfortably advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a thrilling 5-2 victory over Norwich on Sunday.

Alexander-Arnold, who had been sidelined for three weeks due to a knee injury, made his return as a substitute in that match. Robertson, on the other hand, made his first appearance since early October after recovering from shoulder surgery.

Considering Robertson’s lengthy absence, Liverpool will exercise caution regarding his fitness. Additionally, Jurgen Klopp will have to keep in mind the crucial upcoming trip to Arsenal this weekend.

Joe Gomez is likely to retain his position at left-back due to his impressive performances in recent weeks. Additionally, captain Virgil van Dijk will return to the team after making a goal-scoring appearance as a substitute against Norwich.

Liverpool will also have the services of Dominik Szoboszlai, who played for 35 minutes as a substitute in their FA Cup victory.

However, Alexis Mac Allister did not participate in the previous match. Nevertheless, Klopp confirmed that the midfielder is expected to be available for the upcoming game against Chelsea.

“Macca trained yesterday so should be fine,” he informed reporters on Tuesday.

Furthermore, there was a positive development as Thiago Alcantara returned to training after several months. Klopp expressed his admiration for Thiago’s dedication and level of performance but emphasized that he still needs time to fully regain his form.

Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz are expected to retain their positions in the front three for Liverpool, while Diogo Jota’s impressive form may result in Cody Gakpo being relegated to the bench.

Unfortunately, Mohamed Salah will not be able to make a return to the Africa Cup of Nations due to Egypt’s elimination, as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

The predicted Liverpool starting lineup for the upcoming match against an undisclosed opponent is as follows: Alisson in goal, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, and Gomez in defense, Mac Allister, Jones, and Szoboszlai in midfield, and Diaz, Jota, and Nunez leading the attack.

Several players, including Tsimikas, Matip, Salah, Thiago, Bajcetic, and Doak, are currently injured and unavailable for selection. Additionally, Endo will be absent due to his participation in the Asian Cup. The match is scheduled to take place at Anfield on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 8:15pm GMT.
