Liverpool News
Liverpool possible line-up against Wolves has been disclosed, with Arne Slot making the decision to omit three players due to considerations surrounding Wataru Endo.
Liverpool’s Complete Squad for Wolves Match – Arne Slot Excludes Three Players Following Wataru Endo’s Situation.
Arne Slot faces the challenge of deciding which players from his Liverpool roster will not make the trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers today.
The Reds are poised to welcome back their first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, for the Premier League encounter at Molineux.
The Brazilian has been sidelined for the last two matches due to a muscle injury, with Caomhin Kelleher stepping in as the goalkeeper.
Consequently, Liverpool will head to Wolves with only Harvey Elliott unavailable due to his ongoing recovery from a fractured foot.
This leaves Slot with 23 players to choose from, but he must unfortunately inform three of them that they will not be included in the matchday squad, as only nine substitutes can be named in the Premier League.
With Alisson’s return, third-choice goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros will not be needed. The Czech international has been on the bench in place of Kelleher and has received praise from Slot, but his involvement against Wolves is unnecessary.
Tyler Morton made his first appearance of the season during the 5-1 win over West Ham in the Carabao Cup.
However, the academy graduate has yet to feature in a Premier League match this season, despite scoring for the under-21s last week in a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.
Morton finds himself in a precarious position after spending the last two years on loan at Blackburn Rovers and Hull City.
Wataru Endo is another player who may not be included against Bournemouth. Once a key figure under former manager Jurgen Klopp, he has lost his starting spot in the number-six role to Ryan Gravenberch since Slot’s appointment.
Although Endo played a full match against West Ham, the presence of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Curtis Jones as alternatives could see him left out again.
It was somewhat unexpected that the Japan international was not included in the squad against Bournemouth, and with Liverpool playing away, he may have the opportunity to return to the lineup.
In the meantime, Slot might consider omitting a defender from the substitutes.
The defensive lineup against West Ham featured Conor Bradley, Joe Gomez, Jarell Quansah, and Kostas Tsimikas, but Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Andy Robertson are anticipated to make their return.
Gomez’s adaptability could give him an advantage over Quansah, although Slot might believe that having both Bradley and Tsimikas as attacking full-backs is unnecessary.
Another possibility is to exclude Federico Chiesa. The forward played for an hour against West Ham but is still working on regaining his match fitness.
Full Liverpool squad available vs Wolves:
Goalkeepers: Alisson, Kelleher, Jaros.
Defenders: Alexander-Arnold, Bradley, Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, Quansah, Robertson, Tsimikas.
Midfield: Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones, Endo, Morton.
Forwards: Salah, Nunez, Jota, Diaz, Gakpo, Chiesa.
