Fabrizio Romano: Sunderland is poised to acquire another “great” new talent; agreement reached and medical appointment scheduled.

Having observed the last six promoted teams face immediate relegation, Sunderland has entered this transfer window determined to break that cycle and is now reportedly on the verge of adding yet another remarkable signing.

Sunderland’s ongoing summer transformation.

It would be an understatement to say that the Black Cats are preparing themselves for the Premier League.

Those in Wearside have shown no reluctance in their spending this summer, shattering their club record to bring in Habib Diarra, and subsequently adding Noah Sadiki, Reinildo Mandava, Enzo Le Fee on a permanent basis, and Chemsdine Talbi.

After being the latest addition, Talbi expressed his enthusiasm on Sunderland’s official website: “I’m truly thrilled to be here and thankful for the chance to represent this Club.

I chose to join because it’s a fantastic project with a talented, dynamic team filled with young players – and that really inspired me.

“The Premier League is the largest and most prestigious league globally, so I’m eager to get started.

“I know the fans will support me from the outset, and I can’t wait to meet them at the stadium.”

Fans at the Stadium of Light have every reason to be enthusiastic about the winger’s arrival, especially after he netted seven goals and assisted another five in all competitions for Club Brugge last season.

At just 20 years old, the newcomer is brimming with potential and could fully realize that potential under the guidance of Regis Le Bris.

Despite Talbi’s arrival, Sunderland is still active in the transfer market. New reports indicate that the Black Cats have finalized a deal to secure yet another addition, arguably one of their most impressive signings to date.

Sunderland finalizes £18m agreement to acquire Simon Adingra.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland has reached an agreement to sign Simon Adingra from Brighton & Hove Albion, with a medical scheduled for Thursday to complete the winger’s transfer, which is valued at an initial €21m (£18m).

Despite Adingra’s challenges in securing a starting position under Fabian Hurzeler last season, where he only started 12 Premier League matches, he is still a player brimming with potential at the age of 23. Sunderland has likely made a fantastic acquisition for just £19m.

Following a draw with Liverpool in 2023, former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi praised Adingra, alongside his Brighton teammate Carlos Baleba, stating: “We played with a lot of very young players.

I have to congratulate my club because they found another two great players – Adingra and [Carlos] Baleba.”

Thus, even though his progress was impeded by Hurzeler last season, Adingra now has an excellent chance to regain his momentum and provide Sunderland with a fresh, challenging winger.
